Melvin Gordon advice

Postby JoshuaGordon_9 » Sun Nov 19, 2017 10:48 am

What's the overall consensus on Gordon? Hearing "reduction in touches" is never something owners wish to hear, but is he still considered a top RB option in dynasty circles? Or is he a sell before the bottom falls out? That YPC avg does have me a bit worried... 3.7 for his career...

This would be a terrible time to sell, but I'd wait and see how he does over the next few weeks before jumping ship.

I've been yelling sell all season. Don't before it's too late.

No one in the modern era has had 3 straight sub 4ypc seasons and maintained their feature role in year 4. Gordon's value is 100% volume and there is a good chance that volume will be drastically lower next year.

Gordon is one of the most talented runners in the league. He will be fine. The Chargers continue to boast a league-terrible O-Line, but lines change drastically year to year. Not to mention, he gets enough pass-game and red-zone work to buoy his numbers in lieu of the gaping holes that some RBs get to enjoy

I recently sold Melvin too. I've always been high on him and picked him 1.02 in my league's rookie draft. The YPC is getting concerning, but some of that can be attributed to the o-line. If someone in your league values him as a top 8-10 type player, I'd move him. His microfracture surgery from a couple years ago also concerns me from a long-term perspective.

Also, just from an eye test perspective, his top-end speed was one of the reasons I loved him. I know he's been battling turf toe, but he's been caught by trailing defenders a couple times this season which I didn't love.

He's a volume back. When he was the only horse in the stable his value was higher. He's now losing touches to Ekeler (at an arguably higher production rate). I'd sell while you can.

Ekeler has looked like the better pure runner. Def not saying it's panic time but it's a little concerning. Still a RB1 thoug as we saw yesterday.

I have gordon in one of my dynasty leagues and have been asking myself if it is time to sell him also. I’m leaning towards selling him but it’s hard to gauge what people will pay for him. I think his peak value was during the off season
10 Team - Full PPR
QB - Wentz, Mayfield, Carr
RB - Chubb, Bell, Conner, Lindsay, McKinnon

Ekeler will continue to be a thorn in his side.
