This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Potential David Johnson Trade

Postby Goldenarchitect » Fri Nov 17, 2017 2:00 pm

I haven't posted much before so bear with me...

I was runner-up in my league last year and am currently sitting in 1st place this year at 8-2 currently. Losing David Johnson for the season hasn't particularly hampered my team this year as I am still the highest scoring team in the league. Now I have Zeke on suspension and I'm really trying to win the ship this year. A team who is not competing this year at 2-8 has offered M. Thomas and Z. Ertz for David Johnson. This move would certainly help my chances this year but I can't help but think it hurts me in the future. What should I do?

Pertinent Info based on league rules:

I have David Johnson @ $46/yr. for the next 4 years

M. Thomas is currently at $12/yr. for 1 more year. Per league rules, I can extend him for up to 4 years beyond that at a higher salary: if he finishes in the top 20 WRs this season (likely), his salary would jump to $41/year, if he does not finish in top 20 WRs, then it would go up to $21/year.

Z. Ertz is signed for $18/yr. for 3 more years.

Any help is appreciated. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks

i was gonna say do it but then saw you have engram at TE and a nice trio of evans hopkins watkins so i would be looking to get a RB in the deal rather than ertz prob but thomas would help replace the inconsistency of watkins currently

No way I'm making that trade. Sounds like there's a decent chance DJ could play yet this season, but even if he doesn't the value isn't there. If there's any decent RB left on waivers I'd be looking to drop one of your end of roster WR for one. Or look to trade one or both of Brees/Mariota to fill your position gaps for this season

Last report had him saying his wrist was still weak. Don't count him on helping this year. I'd pass on this offer as well. But it's not bad.

x2, Michael Thomas is nice. But that doesn't help with your biggest spot of need this season, RB. Make a run with what you have this season and steamroll everyone next year too.

Sorry guys, my signature shows my team roster to start the season, not currently. Again, pretty new to this and will update it ASAP. I haven’t made many moves this season as my team has performed overall. Here’s what I’ve done:

I’ve dropped Carroo, Strong, and Patterson and picked up Dion Lewis, Jonathon Stewart, and Paul Richardson.

I traded Drew Brees and 2018 3rd for Marvin Jones, 2018 2nd and 2019 1st.

I don't make this trade, especially if Thomas cost $41 and ertz at $18 compared to dj at $46. Don't make trade and hope someone picks up.the slack

That's not that far off. Maybe ask for something small added on top.
