2018 draft non barkley top tier?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

2018 draft non barkley top tier?

Postby hockeyBjj » Fri Nov 17, 2017 12:13 pm

So, let's see if we can get a way too early look at the 2018 rookie draft. Could help some who are looking to possibly acquire or debating selling a 1st with their trade deadline and playoffs approaching

1.1 Barkley who is being hyped as the next coming of Zeke or better

but then who is after that? Is there a tier of 5-6 like there was last year? Is it RB heavy or WR heavy? Was hearing a lot about '18s Quarterback class, but its been rather silent so far this year.

Guice and Chubb are two others at RB I hear. Are they equal to the likes of Dalvin Cook, CMC, Mixon from last year? I have a pick that'll be between 4-6 and in need of a running back. Also have a late first I can use to move up if there's a clear #2RB next year behind Barkley

Sutton is the only WR I've heard mention as an early pick. Are there any others?

Rosen, Darnold, and Allen are the QBs I've heard mentioning. Any of them worth taking before a late 2nd in a non superflex?
Team 1- 10 team ppr, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flx, 1D, 1K
2022: 1-8
Finishes: 6th, 6th, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th
QB: Lamar Jackson, Purdy
RB: Bijan, Dobbins, Achane, Charbonnet, Algier, McBride, waiver trash
WR: JSN, QJ, Addison, Dotson, Skyy Moore, Jameson Williams, Hyatt, T Dell, Boutte, Skowronek, Quez Watkins, Greg Dortch, waiver trash
TE: Hockenson, F Monroe, Juwan, Musgrave
D/K: Patriots, Vikings, Saints, Dicker

picks-
2024- 1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,4,5,5
2025 1,1,1,2,3,4,5

team 2- 12 team SF, .5PPR, .5TE boost, 1QB, 1SF, 2 RB, 3WR, 1TE, 2Flex
2022: 8-1
Finishes: 2nd, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd :wall:

I wouldn't consider chubb a RB like cook, cmc or even mixon. he's more of a power runner but is probably still #3 for me. At WR I like Sutton, but I also like St. Thomas, and ridley, but they wont be early picks with the RBs coming out.

At QB, those are the big 3, but don't be surprised to hear more about Baker Mayfield.. non-SF, I prefer other positions, unless the value is there and its an ideal landing spot.

8 Team - 2QB/SF/4RB/4WR/2TE
Q: Herbert/Kyler/AR/Carr/Baker/Hooker
R: Bijan/DCook/AJones/Dobbins/White/Bigsby/Roschon
W: GWilson/Olave/Hollywood/Burks/Dotson/Jameson/Pickens/Skyy/WanDale
T: Andrews, Goedert, Gesicki, Henry, Bellinger, Likely, Schoonmaker

Ronald Jones ll: looks good, small shifty type, might not come out
Calvin Ridley: Pro ready wr, can run all the routes, doesn't get the love others get because of his qb
Sony Michel: Hidden slightly because of Chubb and Georgias other rbs, all-around skill set, has the potential to be the best from this class IMO
Damien Harris: scouts compare him to Doug Martin
Royce Freeman: productive almost every season in college, landing spot will be key for him.

To me, Guice is on, or nearly on, the same tier as Barkley, and there's a dropoff after those 2. I think there's a bit of recency bias because Barkley was beasting out while Guice was dealing with some injury issues. Keep in mind Guice has a higher career YPC average than Fournette in largely the same situation, and that Barkley has been slowing a bit lately while Guice has come on as he gets healthy.

After those two, there seems to be plenty of depth, but not really one player I feel strongly about. I agree that Chubb is a likely front-runner for the next RB taken, but Freeman, Adams, Love, Ronald Jones, Harris (or any of several other guys) are in the discussion.

Besides those listed already, Kirk is another WR who could be worth an early pick. He's got the size/explosiveness to thrive in the short-strike offenses that seem to be taking over the NFL lately

And don't sleep on Lamar Jackson at QB. Probably not worth an early pick in 1 QB formats, but when Mike Vick says a guy is the next Vick, I'm at least watching to see where he goes and what chance he has to play

Mark Andrews (OK TE) has looked solid. But yes, this years TE class isn't anywhere near this past one. This past TE group might go down as the best TE draft ever.

Ridley is who excites me the most at the WR position. He's been held back by Hurts. I know a lot knock him for being older, but he's very talented and could produce nicely in the right situation. I'm also excited to see how Chubb does at the next level. He isn't the same since his injury but is almost all the way back. I'm rooting for him at the next level.

I’m surprised nobody mentioned James Washington of Okla State. He could be the first WR taken in the NFL draft. I think it’s net ween Ridley and Washington.

Yes, last year was your year to grab a rookie TE. Everyone was saying it was extremely a-typical. I lucked out with Hunter Henry the year before so the TE boost allowed JuJu to make it to me in the second round.

If you had to pick an RB besides Barkley who would have the best first season, who would it be? Or is that impossible to say without knowing landing spots yet?

If you need a deep stash TE maybe look at Jake Butt. He tore his ACL at Michigan and lost his entire year this year but before he got hurt he was mentioned in the same group as Engram Etc.
