This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

OBJ for Julio Jones

Postby erkk » Thu Nov 02, 2017 12:57 am

For team in Sig, full point PPR. Currently in First place with Highest scoring team even with injuries. OBJ and Allen robinson on the shelf is hurting my WR core. Traded a 2nd for Fitz right before OBJ went down.

Would you trade OBJ for Julio Straight up? He also has D Hopkins but doubt he'd go for that. Am leaning toward accepting since I want to win now. Am I far off or is there something missing?

I'd be interested to hear from someone that favors a bit more with Julio.

I understand OBJ is > than Julio but OBJ is injured and I want to go for it now. The difference can't be that far off.

I understand your rationale to make a move like this because I just did something similar (not for Julio, traded for Zeke), and I'm not going to sit here and tell you that Julio is a piece of trash and he can't help you win this year, but here is the reality...

-Julio is currently the WR16 (PPR) and has only scored 1 TD this year
-He has a tougher schedule coming up with CAR, SEA, MIN over the next 5 weeks
-The entire ATL offense has been down this year w/o Shanahan \
-Julio will be 29 in Feb and is on the downward arc of his career IMO

If you are going to move OBJ (which I would support in your situation), I think you have to get a guy that you know for sure is going to produce the rest of the way and also a guy that is going to maintain a value similar to OBJ's over the next few years (i.e. Hopkins). And as someone said above, I would try to move Arob first before moving OBJ.

If you are looking for some cheaper production for your stretch run, I'd look into guys like A Thielen, D Baldwin, Crabtree, and G Tate. They are all putting up better #'s that Julio right now and will come at a fraction of the cost

I'm all for winning it when you can (as you can see in my signature, I have pretty much no draft picks), but I wouldn't make that deal - you're taking far too big of a hit on future value. I'd much prefer you somehow slightly overpaying for someone like Crabtree if possible. If not, I would go for Nuk, and although I think that's a pretty fair swap, I'd be willing to add slightly on your end (maybe a 2nd since yours is projected to be late). But yes I totally agree with you - win now when you have the chance, but I wouldn't make that swap straight up. In my league the OBJ owner is also competing and recently turned down Julio and 2 high 2nds for OBJ - I think that deal is pretty fair.

I would not make that trade either. It looks like all the injuries Julio has had over his career have caught up to him. I say that because he just doesn't look the same to me or maybe, like someone said above, the offense is disarray now with Shanahan gone. I agree with trying to move A Rob first. Do you start 2 QB's? If not maybe you could deal one with A Rob or straight up to a rebuilding team that has a crabtree type player.

Thanks for the input. This has convinced me not to get trigger happy. I did counter with Arob for Julio or OBJ for Nuk. Also, working with the guy that has Crabtree/ CJ Mosely for Cousins.

I recently traded Julio/Big Ben (Superflex) for OBJ. My team wasn't ready to win so I felt the value was there. That said if you are trying to win, do the deal!! Julio's playoff schedule is NO/@TB/@NO so there should be points a plenty.

I am trying to win titles and this game is hard enough so when I have a shot I take it.

True. I may be placing too much negative in the fact that OBJ did break his ankle and has to recover and who knows if he will be the same. Granted he is a freak of a talent and the odd are that he comes back fully healthy and carries on like he did. But I do put stock in his injury and the x factor of how he comes back.
