Carson Wentz or Andrew Luck? 2018 and beyond

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Carson Wentz or Andrew Luck? 2018 and beyond

Postby AugieFootball50 » Wed Nov 01, 2017 1:07 pm

Who do you want 2018 and beyond?

I like Wentz. Bought him low this offseason (Team 2 in signature). That being said... his value seems so high right now that I am wondering if I could flip him for Luck and whether or not it would be worth it.

I know there are people who are putting Wentz ahead of Luck right now and I can't blame them, but I'd still rather have Luck for next year and beyond.

I'm on the other side of the bias, an Eagle fan that doesn't own stock in either. IMHO Wentz is more valuable. First, he doesn't have major shoulder issues. Second, he's proven he can be very productive and only in his second year. Third, he's in a better situation and organization. More weapons, even with Peters out a more solid offensive line and for now a more stable coaching situation. Lastly and this is where my bias could cloud things, just from watching him a bunch this year, he's a special talent. He has a cannon for an arm and is so accurate on deep balls, his escapability is like a 6'5" Rodgers and it seems like he never really forces the ball. Just my 2 cents.

Full disclosure, I am an Eagles fan and traded away the pick I had intended to use to draft Wentz when he entered the league. DUMB! I wish I had him on my team now and would give up more to get him than I would for Luck. I believe Wentz has more long-term value given his age, team-trajectory, O-line, and available weapons. Also, Luck is selling low right now. In our 16 team, 25 player roster, Luck was just traded for hype and a prayer (Mahomes and a 2018 3rd Round). Finally, you have Luck in your other league. Stay diversified so if anything happens to Luck it doesn't impact both teams.

I'd probably trade Wentz for Luck, but wouldn't be thrilled about it. Wentz is looking good and has more weapons and better team than Luck. This could change so who knows.

I don't trust the injury or coaching staff, and think that taking Wentz is a sufficient hedge on those risks. I would be fine taking Wentz, with the bonus potentially being 2017 (though I know that's not the question). I don't think that Wentz Ceiling is as high, but I'm not sure Luck's is what it was pre-injury either.

With Luck's injury, I would lean to Wentz just because I am risk adverse. Lucks shoulder would really worry me.

I’m trying to figure out if it’s recency bias or not, but I’m really scared of Luck long term. Probably too much risk for my ff playing style.

Colts fan here, but when it comes to fantasy I'll take Wentz. Between the shoulder injuries and colts insisting on taking 12 wrs every draft instead of boosting their oline, I don't trust colts one bit. I predict another injury for luck by the end of the year, if he even plays.

Wentz all day. The Colts are an absolute mess and Luck is constantly injured. The Eagles appear set for years to come and I would feel great about owning Wentz over Luck. Trading Luck pre-season looks better and better the more I see the situation play out. Also if they do ship Hilton next year not only will he not have a line... but also no receivers to throw to unless you consider moncrief a legitimate receiving threat lol.

Luck still experiencing pain can't be a good sign.

If you're contending, go after Wentz.
If you're rebuilding, take Luck and the high pick you'll get from your team sucking.

Wentz looks so good. Even as good as Nick Foles did in year 2!

Yeah, give me Luck.
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...
