I should have done this the moment McKinnon went down but I thought it would be an ugly 50/50 backfield between him and Latavius Murray. Should have pounced after the first week but I thought it was an outlier. Now it seems the Vikings are finding ways to get McKinnon the speedster the ball and the offense is still humming (albeit against a poor Bears and Green Bay defense). Should I see what I can get McKinnon for, or don't bother and just tank for a better draft pick? I'm 2-4 at the moment due to my poor running back play. What would be a non-overpay for McKinnon?
This is McKinnon's last contract year so he might be on a new team next year... so I'm not guaranteed of taking Dalvin Cook's handcuff which shies me away of this having future value
Update: He's asking for Jordan Matthews and a second. Should I counter JMatt and a 3rd?

Re: Dalvin Cook owner, should I buy McKinnon?
Ultimately this comes down to 2 things. 1) what price you'll have to pay and 2) what you think of McKinnon long term.
I don't think you'll get him for cheap, and here's why.
He's a pretty divisive player. There's a portion of dynasty players (myself included) that look at his otherworldly athletic profile and efficiency/production when he has gotten touches and think, this guy is fantastic (with 2016's offensive line mess being a player killer). Unfortunately for you, this group owns most McKinnon shares at the moment, and as a chartered/founding member of this group, we are not very likely to deal him for cheap. I own him on 3/3 dynasty leagues, and paid a first for him in the middle of 2016.
So if I were you, I'd check it out but wouldn't be surprised if the asking price is pretty high. If you're not a believer in him as a long term asset, given where your team is, I probably wouldn't pay it.
It's my opinion he can be a high end RB2 or back end RB1 on about 18 touches per game in PPR. That's valuable to me. I understand that other people don't feel the same way. Through 2 weeks of getting starting touches this year, he's been the RB2 in PPR. Obviously a very small sample size.

I'm not high on McKinnon and don't expect his Hunt-esqe TDs weekly but he may end up like Chris Thompson this year with a bunch of dumpoffs.
I wouldn't pay more than a 2nd

Talked with the owner and he's asking for Jordan Matthews and a 2nd? I think I could talk him into a 3rd. What do you guys think? This place is high on JMatt but I just haven't seen it. I have 4 good WRs and Corey Davis should be showing up so JMatt panning out isn't needed for my team

Re: Dalvin Cook owner, should I buy McKinnon? Updated with Jmatt offer
Matthews' production was pretty steady his first 3 years in the league in Philly. If he can play that well in Buffalo when he returns then I see no reason to move him for a short term fix in McKinnon. I'm not one to ever speculate on a player leaving one situation for a starting gig on another team. Unless they were the starter on the first team, they rarely end up the starter on the next team.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.
Re: Dalvin Cook owner, should I buy McKinnon? Updated with Jmatt offer
I'd rather have Jmatt straight up.

Not a fan of Matthews. I'd deal him + 2nd for McKinnon if you're a contender in need of RB help.

As a McKinnon truther, don't ship Mathews and a pick for him.
