Is my team a contender in 2018-2019 with #1 pick? (Best RB Available)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Is my team a contender in 2018-2019 with #1 pick? (Best RB Available)

Postby Pats/VikesFan » Wed Oct 11, 2017 9:06 am

Howdy!

For the team in my signature. I took over an orphaned team that finished in last place for the 2016-2017 season.

In the draft this year I picked up Mixon and Abdullah with my first 2 picks. I have since added Austin Hooper, Donte Moncrief, and Mike Williams (Chargers) after others dropped them. I committed to tanking for the #1 pick, again.

My question is: Am I a contender next year with the #1 pick (presumably Saquon Barkley) or do I have more work to do on the trade front?

Who is tradeable?

Who are my untouchables? (Thinking Mixon, Cooks, Cooper, Allen, Williams and Wilson)

Short answer: no.

I do like what you're doing though, and could be a contender if you make a couple nice trades and a couple of your young guys (Williams, Mixon) live up to their potential.

I don't think you're a contender next year, unfortunately, but keep doing what you're doing!

i like it but for 10 team you need differnce makers and that means you TE position is holding you back and you RB situation (goo dtalent but not producing or getting enough work) I would maybe try to flip a TE and mike williams for an upgrade at TE or to get a RB. best plan is to try to get guys who are injured (since not competing this season build for next) or sell off some wr depth and try to acquire Hyde or Miller since you have both foreman and breida

Depends on how your young guys do. If they need time to develop, it might take more than 1-2 years, but you do have some good talent.

First to me there should be no untouchables, everyone has a price on a roster. Second suck for Barkley doesn't have the same ring as suck for Luck, but hopefully you lose and get the #1. You add Barkley, your 4 deep at rb, you have a solid wr core and depth and then you can use your wr / rb depth to add a better te option. Good luck, nice job on the rebuild.

What about Sucking for Saquon?

In all seriousness, thank you for the feedback. This league is tough to make trades in and I have just tried to be aggressive on the waiver wire. Everyone knows I am tanking so I expect some trades to start coming my way as teams gear up for the playoffs.

I like the team, like others have said you have the young raw talent there

If Cooper decides he can play football again that'd be nice. I personally may look to trade Cooks, I think with Edelman coming back next year cooks is going to lose the most targets on that team. I think you could trade him to a contender this year for a decent amount, maybe aim for an injured guy or 2

Potentially good talent yes, winnable talent no. Your TEs are pedestrian at best RBs led by a potential of Barkley and Mixon isn't bad, but lets be real 1 will be a rookie and who knows with rookies and the other is on a team without any kind of potential blocking for him. I would consider trading a qb and maybe one of your 6 WR2 or WR3s for a better QB. A year after that with another mid round pick if your team does well you may be a contender depending on the rest of the leagues rosters. Few people go from 1st overall pick to 1st place in the league in 1 year.

If players stand as is, no.

If players like MWill, Doctson, Foreman pan out and funchess/fuller continue to develop then I'd say yes.

You've got potential for a solid young core but you definitely can't count on any of them just yet. But adding Barkley could make a world of difference.
