M. Thomas for Picks

Postby hoos89 » Sat Oct 07, 2017 3:33 pm

What sort of pick compensation would you want for Michael Thomas?

I have Thomas, and an owner I believe is interested has the following picks:
2 late firsts (both teams 4-0), 2 mid firsts (2-2 and 1-3) and 1 early first (this is his pick, and he's 0-4). Also has 2 seconds (early and late).

He also has: Josh Doctson, Corey Davis, Brandon Cooks and Martavis Bryant.

Would 2 mid firsts and Josh Doctson be in the ball park?

I'd want that early first and Corey Davis.
I'd feel okay with an early first and a mid first and doctson.
Not sure if two mids would be enough for me, MT would be a good receiver to have around in a rebuild

This. Thomas is so young; he's the player you want to draft with an early first round pick. I have him and they would have to offer me the sun, the moon, and the stars to get him. We're talking two early firsts +. Remember, early picks can bust as well.

I traded for him this past offseason for the 4th and 7th overall. I feel like i made out and would need significantly more than that to get rid of him. maybe that early 1st, late 1st and davis? dont think the other owner would go for that but its worth a shot.

Why do u want to trade Thomas? He's a foundation piece. Only place I could make a play for him, I offered 2 mid to early firsts plus martavis. Damon owner was too smart to take it.

Interested in trading him because I think his value is currently in a good place to move and my team is currently in an awkward spot of being okay but not good, so I'm thinking of moving a player in order to make my pick earlier.

I hear you; I was trying to tank last year despite running Thomas and Ryan as my QB in superflex. Managed to get the 1.01 by about 10 points. But trading a year 2 STUD WR is madness (or SPARTA! - Take your pick). The values being pitched to you on this thread are about right, but from where I stand, I see Thomas turning into a matchup-proof killing machine. And I have Breezy playing at least a couple more years maybe 2-3.

Unless you get a couple EARLY picks and just nail both of them, you are going to be sorry you dumped him. So what if you're looking at 1.4 instead of 1.2? I picked up Thomas at 1.11. You just never know.

Trade off the players who are making you okay, or are great, older players. Do not trade a franchise making stud who has another decade of elite WR1 production ahead of him.

Good points all. What about adding to Thomas to get David Johnson? Fits my goal of improving my pick this season since he's hurt. What type of value (if any) would you be willing to add?

The early 1st would definitely have to be included. After that, I agree with adding Davis, and if not, at least two more 1sts.

I would add nothing to a healthy Thomas to get DJ in PPR. Running backs are definitely more volatile and take an insane beating. Also, if you really want to rebuild, maybe consider adding your RB corps last. Find Young TEs, WRs, and QBs first, then go RB shopping. I love DJ, but to me he's the final piece, not the first one. (The first one would be Michael Thomas)...

We always used to talk about whether a WR was getting the "Manning Bump" when they played for Peyton; I'm not sure a "Brees Bump" isn't just as likely. So there's at least some risk that, for me, keeps Thomas just outside of the top WR tier.

I'm still happily taking him in the mid-late 1st of a startup though, so it's not THAT big of a question. But it's enough that Davis and an early 1st would be enough to make me consider it, especially if by doing so it makes my own 1st earlier also.

I wouldn't trade him for any of that stuff. No way on Doctson. Corey Davis and the 1.02 or 1.03, MAYBE but probably not. And you don't know that the pick is that high.
