Trade during Carr injury

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade during Carr injury

Postby BearlyBears » Mon Oct 02, 2017 4:37 pm

For team 1 in signature. 18 team league, 30-player active roster.

Just lost Carr, my franchise QB, for 2-6 weeks. Don't have a backup, but have a waiver in for Manuel.

Still trying to win this year even though I lost DJ...at least I still have Bell and am getting production from my WRs.

So the team who lost Cook wants to give me a QB:

Trevor Semien and a 2018 2nd round pick (likely in the upper half, top 25 next year because he's 0-4)
for Jerick McKinnon and Allen Hurns

I drafted McKinnon and have been holding on to him hoping the Vikings let him walk and he turns into a nice Riddick-type with another team and hoping Hurns turns into a #1 receiver somewhere too. Luckily they've both fallen into start-able rolls this year. Love having them for depth.

As an added quirk to this trade I already own this other guy's 2018 1st, so I have zero incentive for giving him anything to help him win. I need him to lose every week.

Thoughts on the trade or just roll with Manuel (if I get him) and hope for the best?

P.S. Likely I could flip Lynch for Josh McCown too as an option.

EASILY accepting that trade, in your setting having Semien as a starting QB is great and as a backup to Carr in the future is even better.

I expect nothing from McKinnon and there's no reason you'd ever start hurns unless you have a multiple WR bye week, and it's worth having Semien over Manuel for that price,

The 2nd round pick is a cherry on top.

Any starting QB in an 18 team league should be worth more than what you're giving up.

Thank you all. I'll be accepting that offer. Unless he's withdrawn it while I over-think it.

Update

Haven't changed it in my sig, but the trade went through. I now own his first and second picks next year and he's 0-4 and I have Semian backing up Carr. Thanks for the help everyone.

Kinda regretting this. Very weak behind Bell and Howard for RB depth and wishing I had the McKinnon of the last two weeks. And Seimien is looking like garbage. Talk me off the ledge.
