Superflex Difference Between Rivers and Stafford

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Superflex Difference Between Rivers and Stafford

Postby football_chewy » Sat Sep 23, 2017 2:03 pm

I have an offer on the table for my Stafford that's essentially Rivers + 18 1st for Stafford. I have Ryan, Smith, Watson and Bridgewater as well. Is the 1st enough to get older at QB in a superflex?

Depends on where you think that 1st will land

My guess is mid round - pick 4 to 7.

That's not enough. It would have to be a top 2 pick, if not the top pick in my opinion.

how do you view your qb situation? i personally view you as capeable of making the trade with the assumption that rivers plays atleast 2 more years. i dont know what essentially a future 1st means though. if the offer is stafford for rivers and future 1st....i think you have an offer to think about. if your offers is stafford for rivers and something else...id want to know what that is.

im one of the bigger supporters around here when it comes to stafford, but with your squad in a 10 teamer...you nab the pick imo. the hestitation would be that ryan and stafford are golden in you format....but hopefully smith holds down his spot until 2019 at minimum, teddy bounces back, watson continues to look like a nice fantasy qb....and oh yeah....you have watson. not to mention that your getting rivers in the deal.

for what its worth...you could shop your other qb's...but getting a guy like rivers in return is enough to make me take this. if you were to counter with watson for the pick and rivers...i wonder what kind of response you would get. seems like your partner may be trying to get younger....and you keep stafford

The full offer is Stafford and Fleener for Rivers, Funchess and a 18 1st.

I think my QB situation is passable, I won the league last year with Stafford and Ryan. With the 2 of them I feel set and can stream qbs for bye weeks with Smith and Watson. Hopefully Watson or Bridgewater develops into something since Smith probably is replaced next year.

I like getting a 1st since I don't have my own for next year.

In a Superflex league, I'm anticipating there to be valuable rookie QBs (slightly below top tier guys) and good-to-great RBs/WRs in that mid 4-7 pick range.

Matt Stafford is being perceived as a reliable higher end performer for 5+ seasons. I'm not sure one of those valuable mid picks makes up the gap from Rivers to Stafford. Probably does need to be a top two pick.

I wouldn't touch that unless I was guaranteed a top-3 pick or so. Even then I probably wouldn't. Stafford is 6 years younger, a high-volume passer and Rivers has already had some off-season retirement buzz.

i will take the other side...
i think rivers and stafford are pretty equal...so i will take the QB with the pick...in superflex/2QB leagues, good players tend to fall because a couple QBs will likely be taken at the top...(if not, well, then you get one of the top QBs)

so rivers and the pick for me
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs
Kelce, Andrews, Jacob Harris

I'd keep Stafford with that pick range, your roster look solid for a couple more years without 18 1st

I like Rivers, but Stafford by a wide margin. The 2018 1st would need to be 1.01-1.03 for me to consider a swap, and even then I would rather keep the building block at QB (Stafford) in this format unless it was a likely 1.01
