Watkins for Mixon

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Watkins for Mixon

Postby 1957notthatlongago » Fri Sep 22, 2017 7:14 pm

I have Green, Julio, Allen, and Watkins. Standard scoring. Start 2 WR and a flex.

Received offer of Watkins for Mixon.

This would make my RBs McCoy, Gurley, Crowell, Mixon.

I feel like I need to accept this for my team even though Watkins carries the higher value.

That seems like a fair trade. If it fits your team needs, why not?

Mixon side would definitely need to add something for me. Instant reject for me.

It would take Mixon + for me to move Watkins here.

I'd take Mixon, but after last night, Watkins' value has gone back up so you might be able to get more.

I love Mixon. I want another young RB and think he will a stud. My RB depth is suspect. Crowell may be a diamond in the rough or he may have flashed last year and then fades away. So Mixon presents a long term RB to pair with Gurley.

Julio and AJG have a limited shelf life. So Watkins and Allen serve a long term role. But there inhabe 2 young players that can step in. Trade the extra youth depth at WR for A RB.

I will have what should be a top 3 pick next year--so most likely a young RB. Maybe I should just sit tight and enjoy the ride....but I like he game...degenerate trader.

I can relate on being a degenerate trader. Your team seems like it should compete this year, which, I'm not sure Mixon helps...which is why i asked why. Long term, I like Mixon quite a bit...I just like Sammy more.

I think you can argue it's a lot more than 1 first. What has Mixon done to be worth a talent like Watkins?

Watkins is constantly injured (and he got concussed again on Thursday). Honestly, I'd rather take my chances with Mixon than Watkins.
10 team league, 30 man rosters, .5 PPR:

QB: Smith
R. Wilson, Willis, Walker, Thompson
RB: Walker, Stevenson
Penny, Dobbins, Akers, K. Williams, K. Hill
WR: Chase, Pittman, Pickens
E. Moore, R. Moore, Doubs, Meyers, MVS, R. Anderson, Philips, A. Robinson, Thornton
TE: Everett
Schultz, Ferguson, Otton, Kolar
K: Butker

Yeah, because Mixon doesn't come with a significant bag of risks himself while being less productive.

This is a false perception. Watkins sustained an injury that often takes over a year to heal once repaired. He was rushed back too early and aggravated that injury. Prior to the broken foot Watkin's " constant injuries" history consists of a bunch of sprains and pulls that all players deal with and likely could have been played through. Of course his previous injuries make him a higher risk until he shows he's recovered but he isn't constantly injured; he has been recovering from an injury.

Most leagues Watkins worth more - outstanding college production, produced in NFL (when healthy), still young, longer shelf life of WR.

Mixon could be great but I don't think Gio is going anywhere for a bit which will cap his upside.

Some leagues have inherent biases for no good reason. One league I'm in loves RBs and overvalues them like crazy. If you are in a league like that, then it might be an ok trade as it is soooo hard to get RBs in RB hoarding leagues.
