Where do I go next? (Edited to reflect a new offer)
Re: An offer I can't refuse, but where do I go next?
Just a hunch but im assuming Lynch was a FA pickup. Your getting a Solid Rookie RB that was going within the first 5 picks in all drafts for a 1 year rental.

Re: An offer I can't refuse, but where do I go next?
I think DJ and Kizer is enough value for what your giving up. Kizer could help you now and in future. if you try and throw more into the mix your just getting a rental from Brees and with his age it only a matter of time. I would take Kizer.chalorpas wrote: ↑Fri Sep 22, 2017 7:30 amThat's really good value to get DJ. I'd take that.MontrealBen wrote: ↑Thu Sep 21, 2017 7:47 pm Thanks all. I've told the other guy I'll accept it. We'll see if it comes through.
Here's where the "next" seems to be -- the David Johnson owner is willing to sell. Since he needs a true #1 WR as well (he still has Zeke), I suggested Dez+something for DJ. His offer is Dez+Hogan+Martin for DJ and Kizer.
Two thoughts:
(1) He also has Brees and Cam at QB, so I'm thinking of adding something to try to get one of them instead of Kizer.
(2) Would it be unreasonable to ask to take Martin out and put in Gio, or even Perkins+pick? Again, I'm worried about depleting my RBs to the point where it's hard to start someone (I'd be at Gordon, Mixon, Kamara, Allen, Gio, Perkins, Perine).
Thanks in advance for any input you've got!

Re: Where do I go next? (Edited to reflect a new offer)
Thanks. What's the consensus opinion on Kizer's long term upside? I've long been a streaming QB proponent, but I'm willing to be talked into him as an eventual no-brainer starter (if there is a case to be made).

Re: Where do I go next? (Edited to reflect a new offer)
He, not surprisingly, backed out of dealing DJ for Dez+. I don't blame him.
We're now on to something smaller. He's willing to deal Cam + Cobb for Buck Allen + Hogan + something. Asking for Golladay (I already said no to Kamara). Is that fair, or should I push for one of my underacheivers instead (Brown, Treadwell, Doctson, Fuller)?

To both of your inquiries, I suppose you could see if he's low on one of the QBs if you add something to get one, but I wouldn't push it. And yes it would be super unreasonable to substitute Martin with Gio or the worthless pit of dispair that is Perkins. You're trading for DJ and you're worried about losing Doug Martin? You have to be willing to lose this year if you make this move. You're not going to win the championship so why bother messing this up

Re: Where do I go next? (Edited to reflect a new offer)
As I say, he came to his senses about dealing DJ when we resumed talks in the morning (when he made the offer, it was a tentative "Here's an idea, let's sleep on it" one, and he smartly backed away). The more we got into discussions, the clearer it was that wasn't going anywhere. He fundamentally values WRs way less than RBs, to the point where it was going to cost OBJ++ to get DJ. And, after some shady negotiations with another owner last week, I'm happy to let guys rethink their deals since I don't want anyone walking away feeling *too* screwed.
In the end, we ended up going a different direction -- his Cam, Cobb, and M. Lee for my Hogan, Buck Allen, Fuller, Perkins. I needed to free up a roster spot after picking up Higgins this week, and it finally solidifies my QB spot.
And, lesson learned on passing up elite RBs before the other side wises up.

Re: Where do I go next? (Edited to reflect a new offer)
i would buy DJ for that! if you want, you could certainly ask for brees instead of Kizer...i don't think that it would matter that much to the other owner, but i would make the deal with Kizer.
