Bortles Value in a SuperFlex

Postby Seventy5 » Tue Sep 19, 2017 3:49 pm

In a 12 Team 1PPR SuperFlex league (6 points per passing TD), what range of rookie picks would you give up for Bortles to stash as a backup/QB3?

I'm usually the guy stashing all the backups (osweiler, Garropolo, Beathard, etc), but Bortles has been ROUGH.

It will probably take a 2nd, but I wouldn't feel comfortable giving up anything more than a 3rd.

Kind of what I'm thinking as well. I have an opportunity to buy 'low' in one league where I'm contending and don't have a QB3....but at the same time i wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't worthy of a roster spot 12 months from now either.

I would not pay more than a 3rd but would not expect to get him for that.

He is bad.

Agreed. In general, any starting QB--even the low end rentals like Hoyer etc--are usually worth at least a 2nd, but Bortles has been bad.

With that said, I guess there's a nonzero chance he maybe turns things around....ish.

I think seeing him without ARob just highlights how often ARob was forced to bail out Bortles.

I've been trying to sell him in my 16 team superflex and got literally no offers worth considering. I'm rebuilding so I might as well keep him. But still surprised I couldn't get a 2nd for him...even in a 16 teamer.

Trying to sell him in my 12 team league. I've offered him for a 2018 and 2019 3rd, and Sproles / 2018 4th. TBD. Needless to say, many owners have zero interest. You're market is likely limited to those who have zero QB and are desperate, and within that, those even willing to consider him. Bleak times from even a month ago...

New(er) to superflex, what offers did you send? Thought about a low offer, just not sure what to send

He is the biggest hold in superflex and I love the guy. I believe he can right the ship, he's 24, the jags are a diseased franchise that he takes the fall for. I wouldn't sell him for less than first although most wouldn't give me a 2. I'm riding this hurricane out. A two is well worth it for a qb option, although a risky one

Both offers were declined.

Have received a 2018 3rd (likely 3.01-3.02) + Robby Anderson though. Probably will accept and get out.

Early 3rd is something I would probably start to consider if I liked the depth of the class (if it ends up being as QB heavy as some say...that 3.01 is more like a 2.08 in non-superflex), but even then, the slim chance he improves and holds onto the job for another 1-3 years is almost worth more than a 3rd in these formats.

I just traded for him even though it will probably be a loss a year from now. The guy wanted Taywan Taylor (who I drafted at 4.03) for Bortles straight up (I had no QB3, but had Julio, AJG, Dez, BCook, Demaryius, Diggs, Djax, CoreyColeman, JRoss at WR... so even if Taywan hit he would only be of use in trades for me).

Might as well stash the QB, because even the bottom level guys are usually worth something to contenders later in the season.

Poll so far: one values him as late 1st, three for early 2nds, one at late 2nd, three for 3rds, one for a 4th...that is about as "all over the place" as a players value can get haha. What's crazy is any of the four options could easily end up being right a year from now (in this format anyways)

I really have a tough time envisioning anyone giving up a 2nd or higher for a guy who has the look and feel of someone who could lose their job in any upcoming game. While he could be worth more than this very high 3rd, he could bottom out in the blink of an eye (we've seen it already in preseason), and if you have the QB depth I feel like it safest to just move along with life. It doesn't feel like an ownership is going to want to put their team in his hands if they have any other option, and his play has been EXTREMELY spotty.

I know Robby Anderson isn't sexy either, and perhaps a roster clogged, but Bortles has a similar feel just at a more important position. I don't think his position should trump the fact that he's been downright bad. Given what Baltimore has done this far they could be his undoing as soon as tomorrow.

I sent counters to swap IDP rather than get Robby, but was declined. Think it is time to accept and hedge risk. I think probability is higher he goes down in value than it is it goes up by any significant degree.
