Help Settle a $100 bet!!

Alright, a buddy of mine and I have been arguing over the past few days, we are willing to place the outcome of our debate in your guys' hands.

In light of recent events and performance, what QB would you rather have going forward in a Dynasty Rebuild (take contender/rebuilder/league format/etc. out of the equation), Jimmy Garoppolo, or Andy Dalton. Only qualifier is assume you already have a starting QB for the current year.

Just straight up, who you taking for your squad?

In 1qb leagues I am primarily interested in upside with my backups. Dalton is a replacement level player. He has almost literally 0 value to me because it's easy to find similar production for almost nothing.

Even if there is only a 5% chance Garoppolo is going to just slide in and be the next great Patriots QB, I will take that over Dalton all day.

That was my thought process too Vcize. We know what Dalton is, a sometimes serviceable starter who peaked a few years ago. But the intrigue of Jimmy still remains.

Basically none of the QBs Belichek has drafted (other than Brady) have been any good. And I don't expect Garrapollo to be any different. Dalton isn't great, but he is still going to he a starter for a few years... can't say any of that about JG.

Even with another starting QB, there is chance of injury and there is a bye week...still rather have a starting QB (that has little chance of being benched), than a backup (waiting for an injury to start). If Jimmy G was starting for a team , I would probably take a chance him...as I am not a Dalton fan.

There's no upside with Dalton. bye week filler at best, which is more than jimmy ATM but there's a reason jimmy wasn't traded this off season...

I know Dalton isn't the QB1 everyone is looking for but he's a starting NFL quarterback who can be useful as a streamer. Feel like we're only talking about this because of 2 weeks. My bet is that Jimmy G is never much more than a Mike Glennon level producer.

I apparently just tied it - voted Dalton. He is quite underrated. He will never be elite but he is very good.

I would not want Jimmy G as my cornerstone. He could very easily be the next Matt Cassel.

Can I recommend you two argue and bet over players who are actually good? My answer is neither. 1 qb both should be on the wire. 2 qb both should be on the wire unless u are in a +12 team league.

Every drools over Tom Brady's heir. Let's look at them:
1. Cassel. Criminal that guy got paid
2. Hoyer. Decent backup but how he gets starters job is beyond me.
3. Mallet. Wow he is bad.
4. Brisset...........
5. Jimmy. He had a good game when golden boy was out but couldn't even stay healthy.

Red limp rocket might be a disgusting option on a dumpster fire team within one of the worst organizations in football in one of the worst cities in the country, but atleast he's an option. Again my answer is neither.

Id like to point out to all those who posted something like: "look at all of Brady's other former backups now, they suck". My counter would be, yes they did, OUTSIDE of New England and BB's system. BB let them all go... The Patriots are hanging on to Jimmy G for a reason. He is the heir to Brady, and from the glimpses we've seen he looks like a worthy successor. If were talking Garoppolo on another team than its Dalton all day. But I voted Garoppolo because of what the Patriots have done to keep him.

I can't believe there are this many votes for Garropolo. Amazing. I own a couple backup QBs on my superflex team. Maybe I can flip them for actual starters.
