Dalton is worth more than Garoppolo right now regardless of team situation. If you're rebuilding and want to move to JG. I would wait for Dalton to have a couple good games (which he will) and then move for JG+.

It's not a superflex. And Josh McCown is also a starting QB. Neither are the litmus test here. This is a talent question and, right now, Dalton may not have a job by December for a reason.

Not only is history of production heavily on the side of Dalton, Garropolo is still years away from starter relevance, if ever.

This is a classic mistake in believing that situation makes a player. Even assuming Garropolo is starting in New England in a couple years, he still isn't Tom Brady. He will be lucky to have half the career of Dalton or be as productive.

Yep it has to be Dalton. As much as he has sucked these 2 games Jimmy has done absolutely nothing and will continue to do nothing until he is traded for way too much. NE kept him because they knew they can get better offers later on, not because they think he will be the next Brady.

what QB would you rather have going forward in a Dynasty Rebuild (take contender/rebuilder/league format/etc. out of the equation), Jimmy Garoppolo, or Andy Dalton. Only qualifier is assume you already have a starting QB for the current year.

Okay, I'm confused. You specifically referred to it as a "dynasty rebuild" and then immediately go on to say that rebuilding status shouldn't be considered. Which is it?

I voted for Garappolo based on the rebuilding aspect. If I own my own pick(s) and I'm not trying to win at all, I'd take Jimmy G just for the slim hope that he turns into something special. We already know what Dalton is, so why risk screwing up your draft position for a replacement level QB?

But in literally any other scenario outside of a full-on rebuild, it's Dalton and it's not close.

Basis for debate: I have Andrew Luck and he has Mariota/Wentz in our league. He called me an "Idiot" for rostering Garoppolo which I couldn't resist laughing at since he is currently rostering Andy Dalton as his 3rd qb.

Knowing I'll never have a use for a backup QB (once Luck is healthy) after I'm done with my rebuild, I would much rather take the gamble on the unknown of JG becoming a superstar. I've seen Dalton for years and it's becoming more and more apparent his season a few years ago was an outlier and he has already peaked (in my opinion). Give me the upside play any day.

You were right for the wrong reasons.

Luck was out for the year and instead of Jimmy G staying to take over NE he went SF where he shined.

Dalton was... DALTON !

But Marvin is still around so the Red Rifle gets another chance with a ton of bullets. AJ,Mixon, Gio, Ross, Eifert may be back ... I don't think it's a slam dunk over the next 2-3 years
