Blow it up?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Blow it up?

Postby midnightgreen » Mon Sep 18, 2017 4:58 am

10 tm league, PPR, start QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, Flex

QB: Cousins, Rivers
RB: DJ, Lynch, Kamara, Abdullah, Perkins, Rawls
WR: Hilton, Baldwin, Watkins, Martavis, Diggs, Parker, Golladay, Ty. Williams
TE: Ertz, Hooper

I like my receiving core, but with DJ out and Hilton being dragged down by QB play I don't think I have the studs to win in 10 team.
Was thinking about trying to move at least Lynch and Baldwin. Input appreciated.

If you can buy low on Luck, and maybe send Rivers that way for a team that is in win now

So you send Lynch and Rivers, for Luck, and a younger RB.

Even when healthy, I see this as a middle-of-the-pack team. With the exception of DJ, all your starters fit in their slot (e.g., Hilton is a WR, Baldwin a WR2, Ertz a TE1, Rivers a QB1). But, only DJ is at the top of his positional tier. This team will likely be competitive each year, but I suspect that you'd consistently be fighting for third place at best.

Whether that means blowup or retool depends on the other teams in your league, but there's no way that I'd stand pat with this roster.

Going after Luck is a good suggestion from @ravn88.

It's definitely not a bad team, but it's one of those rosters full of players that are 'knocking on the door' if that makes sense. It could be a contender, but it would need: DJ to get healthy, Diggs to be more consistent, Watkins to live up to his hype, Parker to live up to the hype, Ertz to keep this going, Abdullah to stay healthy, Luck to come back so TY takes off.... etc etc. A lot of ifs.

Having said that...what is there to blow up? The majority of your team is young and full of upside...if anything they just need more time to develop. It's a roster you need to continue building...don't look to blow it up. If by week 5-8 you're clearly out of contention, then I'd look to move Lynch and your QBs for younger assets/picks, but I would let it ride as if just incase Watkins/Parker/Martavis/Diggs get things going.

I see two options. If someone in the league is in rebuild maybe sell DJ to him to upgrade your team for 1-2 studs/starters. That said I would guess there must be at least 2-3 stronger teams in the 10 team league.
So I would try to sell some players come round 6-8. Hilton is a stronger sell when Luck is back... be patient

I wouldn't "blow it up," but I'd try to move some of your older guys for some picks or younger talent.
