Grade my trade - on the fence

Well... made a proposal yesterday that I'm now not super pumped about. This is a contract league, so it is a little complicated. It played out:

Gave:
- Tyrell Williams ($2 through 2022)
- Kendal Wright ($3 for 2017)
- 2018 1st (I'll likely be top 3)

Received:
- Allen Robinson ($3 for 2018), so essentially a 1-year rental
- 2018 1st (likely bottom 6)

Thoughts?

What would you likely have to sign Robinson for if you were to resign him?

This is so confusing to me...when you say "I'll be top 3," do you mean the pick will be a top 3 pick or is your team likely going to finish top 3 so the pick will be late.

Can you resign ARob? So many questions...

I'll likely finish in the top 3 meaning the pick will likely be 1.10-1.12, and the pick I received will likely be 1.01-1.06.

It would cost $60's to retain ARob after next year.

I think you did well if that's the case. You're getting the better pick and I'd still take one year of Arob over Tyrell and Wright.

Contracts aside, this is a good deal. Not sure how that will affect you come 2019 when you have to poney up $60 for Robinson.

Then this deal is a home run...to be honest giving up 1.10/Williams/Wright to get into the top 6 of the 2018 draft (stacked at the top but not deep) is a great deal. One year of ARob is great since he is essentially free in this deal.

Now that you clarified the picks I like this deal a lot.

I always try to target a team that I think won't make the playoffs and try to trade for their 1st... we'll see how this one plays out.

I like it after it was cleared up.

Circling back to this now that the playoffs are mostly done... this one turned out quite different than I expected. After completing this trade the team I traded with went on a crazy run thanks to Desean Watson, Alvin Kamara, Zach Ertz, and Robert Woods. After looking like a non-playoff team he ended up being the #1 seed in the playoffs. Herein lies the danger of doing these sort of trades!

It isn't all bad, though. Thanks to Gurley I thumped him in the playoffs, meaning his rookie pick will be the 1.10, while mine will be the 1.11 (irregardless of what happens in the Championship game). That means this trade turned out to be:

He got: 2018 1.11, Kendall Wright (who he dropped midseason), and Tyrell Williams (who he dropped midseason)
I got: 2018 1.10, 1 year of Allen Robinson (with the right to tag him if he blows up)

Small win, but as early as last week it was looking like I lost big-time as I was on the verge of losing in the 1st round of the playoffs and therefore having traded him the 1.07 pick and potentially getting back the 1.12.

Still a clear win for you lol. Move up 1 spot in the draft and get Arob for a year for two players no longer in your league haha

Tyrell Williams shouldn't have been dropped imo tho

I like the deal for you, even with the run he made.

I understand that some will like this trade. I am not one of them. I have said numerous times on this forum that I'm not sold on Arob being the best receiver on his own team. Right now... I think the Jags have two receivers that are more talented. There is zero reason to believe that he just waltzes in and takes back the #1 role and all the targets he was getting. The Jags offense has been far more efficient without him this season. We can make tons of arguments as to why (read: defense), but the fact is that they are just fine without him and look more explosive with the likes of Lee, Deedee, and Cole.
