1.02 in Rookie Draft - Mixon or Cook?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.02 in Rookie Draft - Mixon or Cook?

Postby tjzoom » Sat Aug 19, 2017 1:39 pm

I'm really liking what I am seeing out of Cook, and he seems to be in a great position to take over that starting role and be featured as a 3-down pack. Consensus reading around has Mixon ahead of him, though. I'm sour on McCaffery, so out of those two, who do you take? Mixon or Cook?

Thanks a million!

Note: Not for the team in my sig. This is for a startup league I'm doing on Reality Sports Online with contracts.

I think Mixon is probably still consensus 2 but cooks stock is soaring. I'm thrilled I got cook at 5. Mixon I think is more talented but cook is set up for a better rookie year. I think he's going to be a feature back immediately.

We have similar ideas. I've considered trying to trade out of the 1.02, but was worried if I get too far back I won't get either of them. Then being a contract league, I would be giving the kid a 4-year contract. Would you rather give Mixon a 4-year deal than Cooks? I'm torn! Thanks for the response

Mixon is the better back, I know Cook has looked good but take Mixon.

That's too for Mixon. Being that this is a salary league, you think he's going to be worth the 4 year contract I throw at him? I'm sure he is. I think I've been gunshy because the way it's worked out I have Eddie Lacy and Doug Martin as my only two other backs - I'm really hoping to grab someone that can do damage right away for me, while also having long-term value - hence eyeing Cooks. But it sounds like Mixon is the better choice. Thanks!

I like both a lot (my top two rookie backs). Cook will produce sooner, but I'd want Mixon more for the long-term.

Pile it on. Cook is likely better in 2017 but I absolutely love Mixon and like him more in your hypothetical 4 year window

I own both. Cook will have a better first year because he doesn't have rb competition like Mixon does, but Mixon is the more talented back and I belive Bengals will fix their O-line before the Vikings do. Vikings O-line is horrendous and has been for a couple years, and they're front office doesn't seem willing to spend the money and early draft picks needed to not have a bottom five line for some reason

Unless you are in a position where adding an RB3 will win you through championship this year, draft Mixon first. Even if you're in that position, Mixon could outscore Cook latter half of this season

If this is PPR I'd still consider Davis at 1.02. Nothing has changed from two months ago to significantly alter his value. If you're hellbent on taking a RB I would go with Mixon.

Thanks everybody! I actually made a trade... Traded down from the 1.02 to the 1.05 and ended up drafting Mixon there!!!! Couldn't believe it! Here's the details:

I gave:
- 1.02
- Hunter Henry (3 year contract)

He gave:
- 1.05
- Tyler Eifert
- 2018 2nd Round pick

I feel pretty good overall. He took McCaffery in the 2nd, and somehow Mixon fell to me. Thanks for all the advice!

Mixon easily for me, but i would also take CmC over cook easily. I dont like him long term and am not as big for 2017 as some seem. That offense will be putrid, though in ppr his floor shouldbe ok with dump offa from captain check down.

I love Mixon, go with him, even though he has to deal with Hill and Bernard which will be annoying.
