Trading for Jordan Reed

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for Jordan Reed

Postby ParLawGod » Fri Aug 18, 2017 3:55 pm

Another team made me an offer that I am seriously considering:

Give: JACK DOYLE plus a late 2018 1st rounder (likely one of the last 2-3 picks of the round)
Get: JORDAN REED

I'm pretty high on Doyle, but I'm not 100% sold on Bennett this year. With Reed, I feel like I could be in a position to win now if he has a top 5 year.

I have three 1st round picks in 2018, all likely in the back half.

Any advice would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to the forums ParLawGod!

Your team is set up to win now. Reed is arguably one of the top 3 TEs in dynasty. When he's healthy and playing he'll give you a huge Gronk like edge every week. Giving up a late 1st and a middling TE is something that I'd be happy to do even with the long term concerns with Reed.

Also, I would probably not hold so many TEs, QBs, Kickers, Defenses in a start 1 of each league. There are probably plenty of good prospects on the waivers that I would rather take a shot on at this time of year instead in the hopes that one of them emerges into something useful. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
10 team SF .5ppr-QB,2RB,3WR,TE,Flex,SF,Def (30 spots)

I guess I would for a win-now team but Reed is a very scary player to own in dynasty. I would probably get Vernon Davis if you have room because there's about a 99% chance that Reed will miss some games for you if you do it.

Thanks everyone! Input much appreciated. I went ahead and made the trade ("injury prone" isn't a label that I really believe in...but Reed gets close). I'm going to go all in - especially since Doyle would have likely sat on my bench this year.

I also agree on the QB/TE holding. Right now the roster is a little big (need to prune down to 26 guys in a few weeks). I'm hoping Kaep finds a team and can be trade bait. Also a couple of teams looking for TE so I'm hoping to deal Witten and Clay as well (stock up on some picks for next year).

I'm really enjoying reading around the forum. Looking forward to seeing you all around.

Good trade. I have Reed as well and even though he is prone to injury, he's a game changer. If he has another season like he did in 2015, he'll be a difference maker.

As a Reed owner, there is no way I would take this kind of return for him. Doyle does nothing to any deal for me.

I would take the Reed side knowing that he's a bigger injury risk.
