Advice on 1.5

Postby AlbertaPrime » Mon Aug 14, 2017 12:17 pm

Hi guys. I have my annual rookie draft this weekend and have the luxury at picking at 1.5. I have been sleuthing and chatting it up with my league mates seeing how the order is going to go and it's looking to be as follows:

1.1: Fournette
1.2: Mixon
1.3: Cook
1.4: CMC
1.5 (Me): Corey Davis

It's sort of a weird situation for me because I should be thrilled getting Davis at 1.5. I'm in sort of a pickle because if you look at my RB depth below (Ajayi.... then really nothing else) I could really use a RB. I've been sitting here for the past few months thinking I'd be getting Cook, Mixon or CMC, which I'd take any of those guys in a heartbeat to boost my RB depth, and now I'm faced with the reality of picking up another stud WR in Davis.

My ultimate question moving forward is this...

What should I do with my hole at RB? Obviously I'm not going to pass on Davis at 1.5. Is my best hope to ride out a combo of Mckinnon and Dwayne Washington as my RB2? Do I have any hope at someone at 2.6? Or do I try to trade one of my WR's for a solid RB2?

Thanks y'all!

You absolutely take Davis. That is a damn steal.

Trade one of your other wide outs for a proven RB. Appears you have plenty of guys who could bring back at least a good starter, maybe more. Davis is the #1 player in this class in my opinion.

I'd take Davis at 1.05. Try moving Parker/JMatt and your 2.06 for a RB. Who knows, someone could take Davis in the top 4. I know my league mates aren't always truthful when they say who they will take.

Definitely Davis at 1.05, and definitely don't trade down; that's incredible value. I would target a more established RB after that, using Parker, Doctson or JMatt as the centerpiece. Abdullah, CJA, DMart, maybe even Hyde or Crowell depending on their owners.

Or see if you can ride the rookie hype and flip Davis. Gordon maybe?

Take Davis and then trade a WR or two for a RB.

Unless I have the 1.1 (and sometimes not even then) I never tell who I'm taking in case someone uses that knowledge to try and trade ahead of me to take said player.

I bet Davis doesn't last till five and u get a rb. I would also be open to expressing joy that Davis "fell" to five, and would then add a 3 to grab the rb who went at four. I am very high on the rbs in this class however. Definitely wouldnt do anything till I was on clock and see who is there. There are a lot of games played during the draft and not everyone tells who they really want in an effort to land them.

This and get the 1.06 and take Hunt. You probably could keep JMatt and get that deal done.

You can't pass on Davis at 1.05. I would look to flip Parker for a RB. His value is higher than I expect his production will bear. That being said, somebody is lying to you and Cook will be your pick at 1.05.

Piling on. TAKE DAVIS! That of course, is if he actually falls to 5. I'm betting someone will grab him with 1-4? If he's there, you have a few pieces at WR you could make a deal for a startable RB. Is this an all rookie draft? Or are there FA's that may get taken? I'm trying to judge the chances that an RB falls to you in the 2nd? Foreman, Perine, Mack, Kamara, Williams, etc? Otherwise you may have to trade up to get one? Maybe package the 2.6 with JMatt to try to move up to a spot where you could get one of these guys?

Lastly, your team doesn't look super strong, so continue to gather pieces and build. One of the best possible pieces out there is C. Davis and if you get him at 5, you can laugh at your league mates later! DO NOT trade down if Davis is looking you in the eye at 5, unless someone offers you something ridiculous.
