A Case for Coleman

Postby ThatGuyBrian » Fri Jul 28, 2017 10:42 am

Last year like most owners I drafted Corey Coleman with the 1.03 pick and was hoping for big things from him. Sure 2016 was a let down it is frustrating constantly hear not just from sports outlets but also other owners that Coleman was hurt during OTAs. From the news I read today it appears that he is healthy and ready to report to camp.

With all that said, I currently have an offer for Coleman which would have me sending Coleman for the 7th pick in round 2. My initial thought is to try and get what I can out of Coleman but my stubborn nature says to hold onto him and ride it out. Just for reference I am a little light at the running back position and think I can get a decent running with that pick ie D'Onta Foreman or maybe even Joe Williams.

So finally I come the question. Should I continue to stay the course with Coleman or try to trade him, maybe not for pick 2.07 but something higher?

Definitely don't trade him for any 2nd rounder. At this point, I'd just hold and see how he does before you sell low after just one season.

Easy pass. Hes worth a 1st rounder all day and mid 2nd isn't even a convo starter for me. Keep him instead of giving him away. the 2.07 and a 18 1st would be in the ballpark but it sounds like he is trying to lowball you so just pass.

That offer has to be a joke. I wouldn't even move him for 1.07.

I have been sitting on Kevin White for two seasons so hanging onto Coleman makes the most season. Thanks for reaffirming what I should be doing with Coleman.

That is what I was thinking too, especially after spending a 1.03 pick on him last year. Thanks for the advice.

Selling the stock for 25 if it will be 10 in 2 months isn't a bad idea, cutting losses is smart If seen early.

Coleman was a good athlete that I root for due to what he has overcome. He was and is a crappy wr. Baylor wr products are good athletes made to look even better in that offense. He has suspect hands and could not run routes. Has had hamstring red flags forever so don't be surprised they popped up, they will be back. He was a wr in a crappy draft that I passed on 2x. Add to that he plays for the worst franchise perhaps in history.

Clearly I'm low on him. 2.7 might get u a zay or juju to replace him, not bad but meh. The browns drafted him high so he will be given every chance to succeed, even if that meant letting go a promising wr in pryor. Just like the browns passing on Watkins at 4 cuz they had Gordon....Anyways. I would give u the 2.7 for him but wouldn't feel great about it as I like a player that will be there more. That being said he is worth more on your team than anyone is willing to give. I would hold, as I have held white like the above post (I thought he was value at 1.12) in hopes he puts it together. It usually takes wrs 3-4 years to figure it out, paying high for rookie wrs and selling low on 2nd year wrs is not a good way to improve. If I had him I would sell for 1.9 or higher, otherwise I would hold
