[POLL] WR Smorgasbord for Picks

Postby closports » Fri Jul 28, 2017 7:25 am

Our draft is 3 weeks away and one of the owners just sent a blind offer that would constitute a mega deal and land them a bunch of picks.

I would be giving away:

Jordan Howard (July ADP - 21)
Terrelle Pryor (40)
Devante Parker (55)
#3 Pick
#4 Pick
#9 Pick
#11 Pick
#12 Pick

And Receiving:

Julio Jones (8)
Davante Adams (28)
Jordy Nelson (32)
Marcus Mariota (67, but more valuable in my league due to being 2 QB)

I spent last season tearing down and rebuilding, and it feels odd to immediately swap out all of those young assets and picks to go right back into competitive mode, but curious to hear the thoughts of the room. How would you respond to this trade offer?

I think it's a pretty even deal on "value", but I'd sit tight if I were you. Of the pieces you're getting back, I think all but Mariota are worth less next year. Also, you'd be giving up your top RB while transitioning to a win-now roster that won't be able to win now without him.

Ya I agree with the poster above. It's a fairly even trade, but there is so much going on its hard to breakdown. In a nonppr league, young rbs are worth a lot, but so is someone like Mariota in a 2qb league. I would pass, or try and work a smaller deal with the other owner if they are looking for rookie picks. Try moving some of your picks for Julio or Mariota

Realistically Mariota and Julio in a 2qb format are probably close to worth what you are giving up, however given you are rebuilding it doesn't make much sense to acquire older veteran assets such as Julio and Jordy unless you can flip them for more than what you are giving up

Because it's a 2QB league, this is an "instant accept" for me.

Same here. In a 2QB league Mariota pushes that side over the top for me.

I'm not sure if you can afford to lose Howard with your current RBs. See if you can negotiate

I'd stand pat easily.

Pryor, Howard, and Parker all stand to significantly increase in value come next year.

Julio, and Nelson are almost guaranteed to lose value, and I'm not a big Adams fan.

You're solid at QB so though Mariota is a top flight asset in 2QB you don't need him, and the draft picks will stack your roster out for years to come.

Not only is this a 2Qb league, but it's an 8 team league. Depth is almost worthless at this point and you need studs. Not sure how this is even close.

In a 2QB league, you're getting the two best players in the deal, in Mariota and Julio. I would absolutely instant-accept this.

Try to flip someone later if you want.

its an 8 team, 2 qb league though, not near as hard to find qbs as a standard 12 teamer. Id have no issue with making the trade but it buys you a bunch of win now pieces and leaves you needing another top rb to win in 8 team league so I'd need to have framework to get an rb with another team worked out to accept it.

I agreed at first, but it's also a 3RB league. I like the value you are getting back, but having to start 3RBs would force me to keep the picks and draft 2 in the first 4 picks. You gathered these picks to do a rebuild, so follow through.

While I agree with the opinions above that it would severely hurt your RB situation (especially in a start 3 RB league), I think the value you're getting is just too good to pass up. I would first try to swap Cooks for either Howard or the 1.03. If that's a no-go, just accept the trade as is. There should still be decent rookie RBs available at picks 14 & 17, and it's not like this is the last trade you can make before the season starts. You still have plenty of time to address your RB situation. Assuming you accept the trade as it stands, I would be looking to trade Jordy, Rivers or Ryan for an RB1. Maybe wait until after your draft. You could probably snag Marlon Mack with pick 14 or 17 and then acquire Frank Gore relatively cheaply. Even after giving up all of those picks, I think you'd still have plenty of desirable pieces to use to fill the void at RB, whether you're trading Jordy to another contender or someone like Doctson or Coleman to a rebuilding owner.

Long story short, take the incredible value now and worry about your RB situation tomorrow.
Both are 12-team 1QB PPR dynasties

Accept, then trade for an RB. I wouldn't advise trying to tweak this deal too much if you feel then value is there for you. All too many times I've tried to squeeze an ounce more and ended up with nothing. You'll have plenty of ammo at WR to go and get a top back.
All my teams suck. And I'm not in your league.
