McCaffery inquiries

So I've had four different guys asking about McCaffery. I'm not big on trading him but I've had so many people ask I have to consider it while knowing I can get them in a bidding war. What would it take for you to move him?

Only one guys has made an offer. It was 2019 and 2020 firsts. I passed on that offer. The problem is there are only three of us with 2018 picks and two of us are in a tight battle atop the league. So there is only one guy I can deal with for 2018 firsts.

If I were to move McCaffrey, I'd want to see if I could move him for a sure thing rather thanmore lottery picks. He is still a lottery ticket right now. Could bust / could hit big. It would take a top 7 RB1 or a top 10 WR asset for me to consider it.

If picks aren't really an option, just let them know you're looking for established players. Either way, I wouldn't make the first offer and let them bid against one another.

In an 8 team league, studs win you championships, not depth. I would try packaging CMC + a pick or 2 for OBJ or Bell or Zeke or someone of that nature.

I packaged CMC and my 2018 1st (likely late) for Freeman in a 12 man PPR league. If you're going to trade him away, especially to someone that came to you, sell him for an upgrade.

(And just for the record, I'm not saying Freeman is OBJ/Bell/Zeke level. I'm just saying look for an upgrade. lol)

The top 2 teams own 4 of the 10 first round picks. A guy in a full blown rebuild has the other 6. The other 6 rounds are spread through the league so it's not all of the draft capital. The rebuilding team has touched all but 2 of the 10 firsts. He moved two of them before deciding to blow his team up. He acquired the other 6 after. Plus, our first rounds are notoriously bad in terms of player returns. Far less than 50% of our first round picks have turned into good players. Over almost 70% of the second round players have turned into good players. Picks aren't worth a lot in this league for whatever reason. Which is why I try to stockpile.

i ended up taking him 5th in my draft, then traded him for the 8th pick and a 2018 1st.

So if I was able to get a 2018 early to mid first and a good upside prospect I would move him. Maybe a Kareem Hunt or Kamara type? Crowell maybe and a 18 first early to mid.
