but, isn't a bird in the hand worth 2 in the bush? not 3?

Honestly, depends how high you are on LF or CD. If you think they elite, keep them, if you aren't sold on either, then make the trade. Personally, If I was very confident of the early pick being top 4, id do it.

This^

Give yourself three chances instead of one to hit. If one of the picks is in the 1-4 range as predicted, that pick alone should only be slightly less likely to produce a star than 1.01 this year.

Having said that, there isn't a guarantee that you'll get a top three pick out of those '18 1sts, which I imagine is what it will take to land one of those guys.
Funny how next year's model is always better (and how Fournette's backup could be viewed as superior at this point). I'd take Fournette.

Lol, it's more about taking what you know is already there vs what you are hoping will be there next year. Projecting picks is hard. Good teams can get unlucky and lose, bad teams can get lucky and win. Unless the other team is rebuilding, I wouldn't trust that it'll be late. I'd rather take the top player this year instead.

If I was rebuilding though, I would do this deal and take the three 1sts, but that's more so because I'd be okay gambling in a rebuild, but not in any other scenario. I do think it's a super fair deal either way one wants to go though.
