This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Cook Trade

Postby alewilliam789 » Sun Jul 23, 2017 9:38 am

Sent Dalvin away for this:

I received:
Kareem Hunt
2 2018 1sts

I sent:
Cook

How do you think I did? One of those firsts is almldt a lock for a top 5 pick next year and the other will most likely be a late first
I may or may not be related to Bryan Edwards

High on Cook and not so much on Hunt but very solid return. If the one 2018 does turn out high, think it's a good deal for you. Definitely good value.

I like it but eventually, you'll need to play for assets that score fantasy points. Instead of trading the pick you used to get Cook for a productive vet, you drafted him, then traded him for two more picks and Hunt. It's a great haul on paper, but it's hard to tell where picks next year will end up before training camp has even started. I'd look to move those picks for players that will score points.

I think Cook is a far superior prospect to Hunt, but looking at their situations id rather have Hunt. I wouldn't count on him as a starter this season, but his situation isn't that much different then DJ from a couple years ago(different skill sets I know). He has to work to overcome Ware to see significant snaps for a team built to win

Valid point. Picks never lose their value however, yes one may become a high first and increase exponentially, while the other may stay mid to late and basically keep the same value. Now he has the option during the season to flip these picks to rebuilders or people out of it for 2 different starters. Add that on top of hunt, who may or may not bust. I love cook but he could bust, get injured week 1, etc. The two picks are a stable commodity and hunt has some upside too. 3 assets for one. Safe play increasing his assets

That's a lot of value for Cook. I'd probably take it. If Hunt doesn't work out then by late-season you could probably flip one of those picks easily depending on how they land.
