First dynasty startup draft - a 2 QB league

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

First dynasty startup draft - a 2 QB league

Postby claypigeon49 » Sat Jul 22, 2017 11:56 am

Team in my signature drafted over the past week. First dynasty team for myself and most of the guys in the league. Curious on feedback for the draft, my trades, and potential areas for improvement.

We did a snake draft and I got selected for the 1st overall. I was immediately contacted by the guy with the 2nd pick, who was desperate to move up and draft Elliot (he's a huge cowboys fan). I played a little coy and was able to get his 1st (2) and 2nd (19) for my 1st (1), 6th (60), and a 2018 3rd.

Uncertain whether to take OBJ, Evans, or a QB, I decided to try to trade down again. I didn't get a lot of interest except for the 9th slot. I ended up trading my new 1st (2), 8th (80), and 11th (101) for his 1st (9), 3rd (29), and his 2018 1st. To my delight, Luck fell to me at 9th overall.

Wanting to get even more out of the first few rounds, I made a few offers in the 2nd and early 3rd. I finally landed getting a 3rd (24) for a 2018 1st and 2nd, where I drafted Gurley. This trade I was a little iffy on.

I felt good with my draft overall, but while I expect to compete this year, I know I have a lot of younger talent. Interested in any feedback you have.

Love this draft. Sick at QB solid rb's with upside WR's.... should be a good start... I would take it.

First off welcome to the forum.

You absolutely slayed all 3 trades, and the draft. Nice work. You have a young, sexy team that can compete year 1. However judging by those trades and your draft your leaguemates have no clue what they are doing.

How does Luck fall to 9 in a true 2 QB league?

Great work. You killed the trades and were able to get great value with Luck falling that far as I would've taken him 1st or 2nd overall easily. I really like your team and you should be setup for now and the future.

p.s. welcome to the forum!

Thanks!

This is a new thing for all of us in a league that has been redraft for years, although a few of us have done a lot of keeper leagues elsewhere. It's also only our 2nd year starting 2 QB in this league. They went late last year, almost like a 1 QB league. This year started slow, before finally catching up in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Top 8 picks in front of me were Elliott, OBJ, M. Evans, A. Brown, DJ, Rodgers, Cooper, and Julio.

Well done. Others have commented on Luck and I agree considering I took him 1.01 in a 2qb startup last year, but getting into the 3rd of a startup for just a future 1st and 2nd is amazing.

To answer the Luck questions, I've seen it a lot too. I believe people, in general have this misconception that he's had some bad years recently. His injury filled year in 2015 is probably mostly to blame. Everyone gets into the idea of 'what have you done for me lately' and with Luck the conception is that it hasn't been much (even though he had a great year last year). The Colts O-line also scares people a little bit. If there is an owner in your league worried about these things, I would take advantage. Luck has been as consistent as they come and is super young to boot.
