Jordon Matthews dilemma

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jordon Matthews dilemma

Postby sugbear65 » Fri Jul 21, 2017 3:56 pm

This is for a 12 team, PPR, 1/4pt per carry league. 25 man roster and 1QB/2RB/2wr/1TE/2flex

I got offered a trade where I would receive J. Matthews. I think it's probably fair value, but something about it is bothering me , so I figured I'd throw it on here and see what the community thinks. Keep in mind the 1/4 of per carry scoring, RBs carry a lot more weight in this format than usual. The offer was-

I give: E. McGuire, J. Mcnichols and 2018 2nd and 3rd
I get: J. Matthews, B. Hill

The meat of my team=
Cam Newton, D. Watson
D. Johnson, D. Freeman, J. Ajayi,Ty Montgomery, B. Powell, T. Coleman, K. Drake, J. Mcnichols, E. McGuire
J. Nelson, T. Pryor, B. Marshall, C. Coleman, J. Brown, C. Conley
M. Bennet, Njoku

So I'm a huge McGuire sleeper fan, that's what prob bothers me the most. But I also don't want to be blinded to a good deal. What do you guys say, take it or leave it?

Lots of folks in my circle are high on this McNichols kid. I'd rather keep him and picks over a bonafide WR3, WR2 on his best day. If Dougie sucks and Sims doesn't bounce back then what's stopping McNichols from stealing the starting gig by mid season?

Matthews will be behind Alshon, Ertz and the run game as far as targets. Hell, Smith might even catch a few deeps balls now that he's out of the hell known as SF.

That's super cheap for JMatt imo. McNichols is a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick this year. McGuire even later. You're not giving up much here. JMatt is easily worth a late 1st.

Dirt cheap. Did he have a crappy year last year? Yes. Did he start his first two years as a wr 2? Yes. Not every team rolls out AB, Julio, and Odell, so unfortunately some of us need wr 2s and 3s. Alshon will help him more than hurt. If you want a young wr2/wr3 with his best days of football ahead of him do this. You hope these guys turn into half of jmatt, but not so sure they will. I like mcnichols a lot fwiw btw and this still doesn't really do much

Well you guys make me feel better about him with your opinions. In one of the leagues I'm in we can only keep 18 (also uses 5 IDP players) and Matthews is on the fence as far as keeping for me.

You guys seem to think the world of him so I may have to keep him now.

I'm not the biggest Matthews fan but this is a pretty easy trade to make. You're giving up a bunch of mostly useless pieces for a player you can start pretty regularly.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Those are middling third round rookie RBs attached with some unknown future picks for Matthews? EASY YES

And to pile on, I think Hill is the best RB in the trade.

I think so too. And if Freeman doesn't get his extension...
Or maybe they let Coleman walk after 2018.
