On the clock in round 2 of a startup...

Postby OCPunisher » Thu Jul 20, 2017 6:45 am

12 team, 0.5 ppr, 22-man rosters. Start 1QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 2WRT 1PK 1TD.

I took Mike Evans with the 6th pick, now my options are TY, ARob, Watkins, Cooks, Dez, or Ajayi.

I'm pretty sure it's down to either TY or ARob for me. I dealt with the headache that is Sammy Watkins on my other team for two years before finally cutting bait, and Dez doesn't excite me all that much with Dak and Zeke in town. The entire Patriots team scares the crap out of me, and it's too early for a running back.

On one hand, TY has been very productive the past two years, in spite of getting a big pay day. His QB is also top-notch, and both are under contract for a long time. On the other hand, Robinson is much bigger, and his ceiling is likely higher than TY (he was a top-five asset a year or two ago).

What to do?

Take Arob. Hilton is great but Arob is a few years upside with higher upside.

Evans with the #6 pick seems quite fortunate. TY or Cooks for me.

Yes, I was quite happy with that, especially since I own him in my other league as well. Equally bummed that Michael Thomas got sniped one pick before me for the exact same reason.

It's definitely either TY or ARob here. I would take ARob personally. The tiebreaker for me is that ARob is 4 years younger than TY.

I know ARob is younger but given the drop off in production last season, I'd be hard pressed to move him ahead of everyone on this list. My vote went for Hilton. He's going to continue to rake as the #1 WR in that offense.

ARob is four years younger and six inches taller.
TY has a much better QB and no pesky running game to take away his targets.

In the short-term, TY is probably the better pick as he is producing like crazy right now, but ARob is probably the better long-term pick. Given that my league is more likely used to the standard redraft format, I'm probably better off playing the long game than the short game. I think I have a better competitive advantage over the long-term than trying to win now. So, ARob it is.

Thanks everyone!

If you take TY, youre forced to plan for a shorter window IMO (mostly because his trade value will fall quickly year to year). ARob gives you the flexibility to still play to win now, but also draft very young/for the future. ARob and its a pretty easy call for me

Arob or Hilton. I prefer Arob because of the age and expect a big bounce back from last season.

I would've gone Hilton, but I can't blame you for going ARob. I feel like ARob could've actually been around at your next pick especially since you say your league may treat this more like redraft than dynasty.
