Tannehill For Goff (2QB)

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Tannehill For Goff (2QB)

Postby dipANDglide » Wed Jul 19, 2017 10:18 pm

My starters are Wilson and Mariota. Would you move Tanny for Goff? Or do you like Tannehill more in the long run?

I think it depends on your risk tolerance. Certainly Goff needs to be added to in order to get Tannehill at this point, just going by their common market values, but I can understand preferring Goff. We've seen plenty of Tannehill; he's a guy. Something better than a replacement-level talent, but one without much upside it seems.

Goff had one bad season, but rookie QBs frequently struggle. You have more potential upside but run the risk that last year was the real him, and he'll be a backup somewhere this time next year. If you can get something of value alongside Goff, and have enough other starters that you can afford to eat Goff falling apart, I can see it.

But if you're asking about straight-up, definitely Tannehill.

I would rather stick with Tannehill also. (Until I see more of Goff's game).

Tannehill and not close for me. I get that Tannehill isn't a top10 QB but he has proven to be an NFL starting caliber QB. Goff has yet to do that. I get that tannehill is older...28, which in QB standards is still very young

Tanny unless they add something interesting to the Goff side

In a 2QB league the gap is at least a 1st round pick. Goff could easily faceplant this season and I doubt anyone outside of the Rams front office would be surprised.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Tanny. I just didn't see anything from Goff last year that would suggest he can be a starter in this league. Maybe that changes, but Keenum looked much better than him.

I would pick Tannehill as well, but the gap isn't huge. Something like a 2nd rounder. However, given that you have two stud QBs who are both pretty young, I would stick with Tannehill for bye weeks and such.

Tanny will be never be great, but I doubt that Goff ever has a season as good as Tanny's best to-date. And I bet that Tanny will be a starting QB for more years moving forward than Goff even though Goff is much younger.

Easily Tanny in any format.
