Time to move Brees?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Time to move Brees?

Postby craigii » Tue Jul 18, 2017 4:24 pm

You should be getting a lot more. Also, if you're trading Brees, you should look to get a young QB and something else on top. I wouldn't want to be stuck with Tanny, Bortles, and Trubisky as my only QBs in a SF. What QBs does the Murray owner have?

He has Carr, McCarron, Savage, Siemian, and Taylor. I was thinking about countering having him throw in Alshon, not sure that evens it out.

Carr will be to expensive. Savage and Siemian are risky. Assuming Tyrod Taylor he needs to be in the deal

I'd wait until the season starts. People will pay up more for a strong QB to bolster their lineup then.

Agree now is a good time to move. Prefer to move a year too early over a year too late. That being said not sure this deal gets it done. I would feel good betting DM falls off before brees

There isnt any point giving up a QB with a couple of years left for a RB in the same situation. I'd wait until closer to the season....get that buzz going again.

I agree that closer to the season or in-season would be the best time to sell. You're only a few pieces away from being a strong contender, so if you can get there this season or next, I think Brees will still give you good enough production that you may want to ride him till the wheels fall off.

I'd rather have Brees in a super flex over Murray. He's a FA at year's end and even if he walks he's only going to go to a team that is stacked and ready to make a run, or he could resign and keep posting monster numbers. Imagine Minnesota next season taking a run at him with their skill position players, their defense, add more to the o-line and add Brees, instant contender. Just a crazy thought.

On the whole your team can't be all that competitive, so if you're moving Brees you should be getting a player back with a longer shelf-life. Your RB2 is highly questionable (most people's are) and your WR3 is nonexistent right now, with your top 2 having questions as well. I'd be considering making a move to get 2018s with your team, tbh. Just don't like what you're working with - not one top 10 player in just about any format.
