Gilli hype train who is he better than?

Postby Jmatt>Coleman » Mon Jul 17, 2017 2:41 pm

Have a frenemy that is drinking the Gilli juice and stated that he is better than a majority of rbs on a couple of other teams in our league including my own. Would appreciate some feedback on how you rank Gilli compared to these guys:

Martin, Blount, Gore, Hyde, TY Mont, Ingram, ware, Henry, Ameer
12 team superflex qb/rb/rb/wr/wr/wr/te/flex/superflex
Starters in caps.
QB: DAK, BLAKE

TE: ENGRAM, Olsen, Ebron

I'd rather have Henry, Martin, Hyde, Monty, Ingram, Ware, and Ameer...and I'm pretty low on a couple of those guys. Gore and Blount are the only two that I might not want, but mostly because of age and wouldn't be surprised if they outscored him as well.

It depends on need. If it's an every week starter, I'd rather have Martin, Gore, Ty, Ameer, Ware, probably Hyde. If Gillislee is your last flex, I'd only start Martin or Ameer over him. He's going to have 2-3 TD weeks, just won't know when.

I am with you, but I might take Blount over him as well. I like Blount to score more this year, and both are on a 1 year deal (nothing guaranteed for Gillislee after this season).
Dynasty player since 2002.
I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

I would take all of those RB's over Gillislee. I think the hype has gone to far and he's going to let down a lot of people who invested heavily in him

Gore is the only RB listed I can for sure say I'd take Gilli over. As others have said Gore could still outscore him

I think it's tough because he is in a crowded NE backfield where he is guaranteed nothing. I'd hope for a mid to high second.

Never start a New England running back unless you own a time machine or are feeling very lucky, bearing in mind that just because you feel some way does not make it so.

Hypes gone to far, but I'd only take Martin, Gore and Henry over him. Martin and Gore should (could?) see more predictable and heavier work loads (I'm buying Martin to come back strong post ban). Henry as he has the most upside and talent out of all these and I want for the future

Abdullah a push. Bit behind this year for injury concerns, but higher ceiling.

The only one I may not take ahead of him is Ware simply because I don't think he's going to have much of a role in KC this season. But the rest I see as pretty clearly ahead of Gillislee who is going to struggle in his own right to see steady touches.

Apparently the hype is train isn't full speed if ya'll are taking most of the RB's over Gillislee.

I'd rather have Gillislee over every back except Derrick Henry. All of these RB's pretty much have serious warts, I don't really understand why people wouldn't take a chance on Gillislee as their RB3 then some of these guys. Granted, some are safer as well, but for me I'll roll with GIllislee.

Martin - He was pitiful last year. The good news is that they've kept him around despite his suspension and he's had a good off-season. Still, he looks to be a 2 down back even though he's displayed 3rd down capabilities. Sims was siphoning 3rd down looks and they drafted McNichols. As mentioned, he's suspended so there isn't even a guarantee that he get's full reign in the backfield with a veteran back like Rodgers who showed well last year there.

Blount - This one is easy. The Patriots obviously chose Gillislee over Blount, why would we expect Blount to out perform Gillislee? You're looking at a Ryan Mathews from last year, pretty much TD dependent. The Eagles won't be up in games as much as the Patriots were.

Gore - Obviously Gore is a stud and I've been saying this is his last year for about 3 years now. But I gotta roll with Gillislee pretty easily here due to the age difference and the fact that Gore is unlikely to outscore Gillislee this year.

Hyde - This is a close one, but Hyde has been trending in the wrong direction for me. It doesn't appear that he'll be with the team next year and with another group of strong RB's coming in 2018, I'm not seeing a team paying top dollar for a FA RB. I know I am in the minority, but I think Gillislee has a better year this year and has more job security this year and a clearer situation in 2018.

Ty Montgomery - I mean, we all love him but how do we really think he's going to be an every down back for the next several years? They just drafted 3 RB's. I can see him getting 8-12 carries and a good amount of 3rd down duties but I don't see him ever approaching 250+ touches

Mark Ingram - Another close one, and long term I might prefer Ingram but in the short term I believe Gillislee is likely to have more trade value, so I'll take him.

Spencer Ware - Not a huge fan of him. Good football player but nothing special and I think Hunt is the guy to own in the future. You're already looking a a borderline committee this year, so give me Gillislee again.

Ameer Abdullah - He hasn't proven much in the NFL. I think he's too small to be an every down back and he's being treated as one in rankings.

The only back I'd rather have is Derrick Henry. So no, the hype has room to grow and we should see in a few weeks.
