Njoku for Abdullah?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Njoku for Abdullah?

Postby jmajewski » Fri Jul 14, 2017 1:59 pm

This is for team 1.

Would you give Njoku for Abdullah?

I like Njoku quite a bit, but I'm already pretty set at TE (although I could start up to 3 TEs).

Conversely, I need RBs, but I'm pretty concerned about Abdullah's injury history.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I have them both as early/mid 2nd round guys, so seems like a fair trade if you need RB help.

Could go either way... You already have three young TEs that should last you some time, and I would almost always rather not start a TE in my flex if possible. That being said, you'd have to believe he's going to stay uninjured. If he goes down again this season I would imagine the Lions start moving on. You have a decent stable of young RBs with upside... and Kelley, Woodhead, Gillislee could probably stand in just fine until one of them materializes into a starter.

I prefer Njoku to Abdullah but my lord you are loaded at tight end. Shame on you. You should divest yourself from some of that if possible.

I think it's fair but I'd try to get something added on top of Abdullah, something like a future pick or a good flier. Njoku's value is higher now due to rookie hype and Abdullah's injury history. I'd field other offers before accepting that though.

With Howard and Njoku you should be able to land a more exciting RB option than Abdullah I'd think. Of course, it depends on how the other owners in your league feel about the rookie TE's. Still, I think I'd be willing to deal either one and simply let the league know either is available for an upgrade at RB and see what shakes out.

You may get an offer you like more than Abdullah. Overall though, it's not a bad swap if that's the direction you choose to go.

I agree that you should offer out Howard or Njoku to see what other RBs they'd land you, but with your team I'd much prefer to have Abdullah and think it's a fair trade.

It would come down to team need/scoring. Since this isn't TE premium, you're stacked at TE and you need a RB - I'd take it.

My question - This is a 10 team league. AA isn't that great. Would it be better to try to package a TE with something else and get a better RB?

Thanks for all the input, guys.

Like a lot of you have suggested, I would really prefer a better RB than Abdullah, even if it means packaging 2 or more players to get it done. Unfortunately, a lot of the better RBs are concentrated on a couple of teams, so the rest of the league is reluctant to part with theirs. Finding a team that 1) has RBs and is willing to part with them and 2) needs/values TEs is a challenge.

I'm dealing with one of the RB hoarders in this current trade, and he's already rebuffed my attempts to get Gurley instead of Abdullah. He says he's only willing to part with CJ Anderson or Abdullah. I'm thinking that maybe he'd be willing to part with BOTH of them.

1) Is it even worth trying to get both CJA and Abdullah?

2) What would you offer for both? Howard? Njoku and a 2018 pick?

I was a believer and drafted him. His foot injury is concerning but it's the same one Bell had early in his career. The lions believe in him and he will be given his chance this year. He looks like he did to start last year this won't be close in season. Like Njoku but he's raw and on the browns. He might be the next great Miami tight end up it will probably be more like 5 years than instantly for him to be relevant. I would prefer to take my chances with a possible rb 2 this year than a top 10 tight end in ????? Years.

Abdullah is the choice for me. He is going to have a good workload next year and flashed his potential in the one game he played last year. He will provide good RB production until Cook and Henry become consistent producers. You definitely don't need Njoku as your 4th TE.
