Corey Davis upside?

Corey Davis upside?

Postby andrewsco » Sat Jul 01, 2017 5:30 pm

Is Corey Davis's upside really as a high end WR1? I feel like he is being drafted like he is going to end up as a similar talent to OBJ and Evans?

I'll be honest that I haven't watched much of his play but I don't get the feeling he is that type of talent from what I have seen. Are we just pricing in the fact that there isn't (well before decker signed) much else in the passing game?

I think he will drop in my dynasty start up and wondering what the real upside is with him as a player long term?

To say he will be OBJ or Evans, is hard to say, however he has the size, speed, quickness, hands, big play ability to be a WR1.

He's not being drafted as the next OBJ or Evans, he's being drafted as the top WR of this class

His upside is a WR1, but that doesn't mean the WR1 in startups. More like a top 12 WR. However, I'd temper my expectations and be happy with WR2 production.

Long term I expect him to be more of a AJG type (height, route running and hands combo, not sure if he'll ever live up)

I haven't seen anyone compare him to obj or Evans.

He's th best wr prospect to come out in a while as well. If MW was injured it'd interesting to see how much higher he would be in this rookie draft.

Sorry when I say 'compared to Evans / OBJ' I mean draft position relative to a rookie WR in a start up draft. He would be my WR3 if he fell to me so think I'd be ok with that sort of production Andrew try pick up someone like Garçon late draft.

Thanks!

I think his upside is AJG, though I think it's much more likely that he falls short of that. If he can develop into a perennial low WR1 then I'd consider that a strong hit.

I have a feeling Corey will be a bigger version of what we thought Justin Blackmon could have been after his rookie year flashes. I was just rewatching Blackmon's rookie highlights and felt as if I saw CD's WMU highlights.

Davis is going to be elite in time. Watch his film and his stiff arms and tossing players aside. A lot of Owens in his game. He does things well that will translate in NfL. Titans are an up and coming team. May be one of best young teams in the league.

Corey Davis certainly has a lot of potential. I don't think there is any denying that. His upside is perennial WR1 as he is paired with Mariota for quite some time and figures to be the top target, but his floor I'd say is perennial WR3. Just think his game will translate to the NFL quite well.

He has the skillset but what I really like about him after watching him interview was his mindset. He interviewed well and seems highly intelligent and down to earth but also confident.

Prior to the draft he wasn't being talked about like a can't miss talent. Many mocks had him going to the Ravens or somewhere in the teens. It's easy to get caught up in the draft capital used and the situation he's in. I feel like his situation is the reason i'm high on him, but he wasn't built up as a top 5 draft talent, so in terms of upside, he's got as much of it as a guy like Devante Parker really, who was drafted later. I feel the 'can't miss' part of the argument for him is due to the team he landed on.
