Start-up trade

Postby nabright » Mon Jun 26, 2017 3:28 pm

I just made a trade in my start-up. I am one that usually avoids making start-up draft pick trades because I usually end up screwing myself over. However, I felt like this was a good deal for me. Here's a little info on the settings; it's a 14tm super flex, 1.5ppr for TEs, 1ppr for WRs, .5ppr for RBs. TEs also get 1.5yds per 10yds. RBs also get .25ppc. Everything else is fairly standard. Start QB/RB/RB/WR/WR/Flex/Flex/OP

My picks so far: 1.5: LeVeon Bell, 2.10: Kirk Cousin, 3.5: Jordan Howard.

Here's the deal I made: I traded the 5.05, 7.05, and my '18 1st for 3.08, 9.08. With the 3.08, I picked Brandin Cooks.

Did I make a good deal?

It's a 14-team superflex and you DIDNT pick a 2nd QB? I'm hoping they were all gone and that's why you didn't do so

I personally am not a fan of trading your next year 1st before the start up draft is over and you can evaluate your team and see what direction it might be going so I would have passed. However depending on how your season goes and who's available at the picks you traded you might have made the right move
16 team .5 PPR

1 QB 2 RB 2 WR 1 TE 2 FLEX

QB-Jared Goff Tom Savage, Jay Cutler, Jimmy Garoppolo
RB-Ezekiel Elliot, Jeremy McNichols Elijah McGuire, Matt Breida
WR-Amari Cooper, Sammy Watkins Corey Coleman, Donte Moncreif Braxton Miller, Marquis Lee, Calvin Johnson
TE-David Njoku Vance McDonald, Bucky Hodges, Dwayne Allen, Jared Cook, Adam Shaheen, Eric Swoope

I don't really like it. In a SF you need another QB and in a league that gives so many points to TEs, I would have even considered one of the top TEs there (not knowing who's available). For your sake, I hope that 18 1sts doesn't end up being early. I'm also curious who your trade partner took at 5.05 and 7.05.

With the QBs that were left, I didn't think I could take one of them over Cooks. Dalton was the best that was left. Draft is in progress, so can't say for sure who will be st those picks. Best TEs that were left were Rudy, Olsen, Henry

Yeah, you're officially in rebuild and it's gonna last a couple years since you've traded next year's 1st rounder...depending on your patience for such things, L Bell will need to be used as ignition for the rebuild

Rebuild? Pretty bold statement considering the draft hasn't finished. I will be able to get a more than capable QB2 with my 4th pick. Cant say the same about a WR with the next pick

I hope you're right...would just be a surprise to me if a decent QB made it that far, though. The rebuild prediction might be a tad bold, but it's preseason and I've got nothing better to do ;)

Maybe not rebuild but waiting on a QB2 is super super risky! I would've taken Dalton in a heartbeat

I appreciate everyones feedback. I still think it was a good trade for me. Cooks could put up huge numbers this year and has a WR2 floor imo. I think I would have been looking at guys like Snead, Doctson, Benjamin at the 5.05. I prefer Cooks to them by miles. The 7th to 9th drop is a decent drop, but I will be able to pick up a good young prospect or vet with the pick.

Don't really like the trade much at all but I don't mind the pick.

I think it's too early to say how the trade is until the draft shakes out a bit. I kind of like it, as I'm high Cooks and like think he is gonna thrive in NE. Calling for a rebuild at this point is hilarious. Don't sweat the haters, I think it was a decent trade.

Maybe you can post a link to the draft for us to follow-along?

Pick I'm fine with, the deal I'm not a fan of. I'd rather hold my first for next season / wait until rookie fever hit full throttle.
