Pryor + 18' 1st for Keenan Allen

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Pryor + 18' 1st for Keenan Allen

Postby Oil Boom » Sun Jun 25, 2017 3:23 pm

12-TM, PPR

I give: Keenan Allen
I get: T. Pryor + 18' 1st

Kicker being: the 2018 'should' be a top 3 (w/ the possibility of 1) pick if I were to guess. It's a Start-up, but his team is very young and not much depth is there. Of course, knowing FF he would finish first and I'd be picking 1.12.

Is this a gamble others would take, or a hard pass? I'd be looking at Pryor, Maclin, Garçon, Decker, Mike Wallace, Chris Conley (and a few Rookie WRs not ready to contribute) as my WR2/3 after Mike Evans.

Maybe I'm too focused on the top 2 RBs coming out next year, so any help is appreciated!

You have some older guys at WR, so I'd take Pryor and the 1st if you think its gonna be that high. I just don't know if Keenan will ever stay healthy. Plus he has more competition for targets now as well.

If that 1st is really top 3, then I'd do it. Otherwise, I'd rather keep Allen.

Excellent, thanks to all. I think I'll roll the dice on this one, and hope it doesn't come back to bite me, haha.

I'd personally do that deal. I think Pryor could have a good season and the chance at getting either Barkley or Guice next year is to much to pass on

Pryor is likely to score as well as Keenan. Free 1st round pick. Easy peasy.

What is it that makes Pryor such a slam dunk? What am I missing here? Didn't talent starved Cleveland let him walk?

Doesn't the same question apply to Keenan? Full season of production from Pryor in 2016 at a new position vs. half season (2015) from Keenan...

"Let him walk" also implies that the Browns held all the cards in determining his return to Cleveland.

Don't forget the 3 year gap in their age though. Pryor is already 28 and we know what happens to WR's values once they get in their late 20s. I think people forget how old Pryor is since last year felt like his rookie season.

I'm not going to overvalue age like some do. This is why so many people are buying into a guy like Moncrief. The idea that age is some magical thing that as long as someone is young they will play better, carry value longer, etc. Sure... people will continue to overvalue age. But there is a point where the player has to produce. This isn't a straight up trade. The 1st round pick makes this a slam dunk in favor of the Pryor side.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I said myself that I would take the Pryor side if the 1st indeed was early. Just pointing out, whether fair or not, that player's values take hits due to age. Also, Moncrief shouldn't be compared to Allen because Allen is actually productive when on the field.
