My 2017 rebuild

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

My 2017 rebuild

Postby The Grudge » Fri Jun 23, 2017 2:26 pm

So I am currently doing my rookie draft. Took over a terrible orphan last year and have been slowly building. 12 team IDP PPR league and I finished in 7th last year. Start 1 qb, 2-3 rb, 3-4 wr, 1-2 te, 1-k, 2-3 dl, 3-4 lbs, 3-4 cb and s. I am trying to be way more competitive this year and believe in building a solid core and competing at all times. So far this is how my draft has gone. Team 2 in sig.
1:06-Mike Williams
1:09-David Njoku
2:02 John Ross
2:06 D'onta Forman
3:03 Joe Williams
4:05
4:09
5:05
6:05

Im weak at RB, I know, and my LBS are not the best. I feel I have been drafting best player available, and not drafting for need. You can always trade later right?
Just thought I would post and look for some healthy criticism as I enjoy talking football, and reading through others posts on these forums.

i dont do IDP, but I like it. I am a fan of Foreman and Joe Williams could very well be the starter by mid season...due to injury:)

I think you should of passed on John Ross and Taken Perine, but other then that good draft. I'd take Riddick ILB Ari if there with 4.5

I seriously thought about Perine, but went with Ross as I felt he may be a little bit better in the long run. And at 2:02 I felt Ross was the pick to make.

Love the Ross pick in the 2nd. He is going to surprise a lot of people, if not this year then next. No way he should be slipping past 1.08 as a top 10 NFL draft WR. Dude will get every possible chance imaginable and if he stays healthy he'll have an ok floor with insane upside.

I also would have passed on Ross, but it could work out for you. I like the rest of the picks. Like the strategy of going bpa and not reaching unnecessarily. I wouldn't count on any of those players to help you much this year, but should be a nice building block.

You are weak at RB. As a local Colts fan, I will tell you that if Turbin is available in your draft, I would grab him (good reports out of camp, and I think they have to spell old man Gore more). Another suggestion is a Jets Rookie named Elijah McGuire, but you can probably wait for a flyer in the 5th or even 6th round.

4th round is your IDP playground (I don't do IDP, so g'luck!)
5th round is a flyer RB or one of the final QBs (for the record, if the big names are gone, don't sleep on Webb (NYG) or Dobbs (PIT) from the draft). Will make good trade bait next year.
6th round is a total flyer on BPA.

g'luck!
THE PYRATES. Terrorizing this league since 2006 - Playoffs (06,07,10,11,13-16,18, 19)
4 Division titles, 5 Superbowls (2006, 2013-2016), 2013 CCFL Champions

QB: D.Watson, T.Bridgewater, C.Newton, AJ.McCarron, J.Hurts-R
RB: D.Henry, K.Drake, A.Dillon-R, D.Evans-R, R.Armstead, D.Lewis, F.Gore, B.Hill, D.Williams, D.Dallas-R,
WR: M.Evans, J.Smith-Schuster, C.Ridley, C.Kirk
TE: T.Kelce, C.Herndon
K: M.Gay, M.Prater
DEF Texans, Seahawks

14-team, 2 division, non-ppr with salary caps. Starts 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, K, DST
Pillage FIRST! THEN burn. Doing it the other way around is pointless.
