Trading 2018 1st rounder

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading 2018 1st rounder

Postby RGKID144 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 4:52 am

10 team league with deep starting requirements as follows:

2QB/4WR/2RB/TE/FLEX- 2QB obviously skyrockets their value, and 4WR(with the option to start a 5th) gives a very unique value to a position that is already most coveted in dynasty leagues.

I'm currently sitting with rookie picks 2.7/2.9/2.10/3.7, but this has been offered to me:

Give: 2018 1st round pick

Get: 2017 picks 2.4 and 2.5.

The guys who will most likely be available at 2.4 and 2.5 are Marshawn, Kizer, Njoku, Kareem Hunt.

I've made the playoffs each of the last two years, and my team is entering it's prime as a perennial contender(I hope).

Team is in sig, appreciate any and all feedback!
Entering year ten of Dynasty 10 team 2QB/2RB/4WR/1TE/1FLEX(rb/wr/te).

QB: Bryce Young, Jared Goff, Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, Stetson Bennett.
WR: Garret Wilson, Devonta Smith, Tee Higgins, Michael Pittman, Odell Beckham, Treylon Burks, Zay Flowers, Curtis Samuel, Dyami Brown, Kenny Golladay.
RB: Bijan Robinson, Cam Akers, Antonio Gibson, Donta Foreman, Michael Carter, James Robinson, Dontrell Hilliard.
TE: Evan Engram, David Njoku, Trey McBride, Matt LaPorta Jelani Woods, Bob Tonyan.

If those guys are on the board, I like the 2nds. Everyone behind Ajayi is questionable, so Marshawn is a great 1-2 year rental for you as a contender. Picking up a rookie QB this year to develop on your bench is seldom a bad idea in 2QB. The 2nds allow you to play for now and the future. If the 2018 1st is your's and will most likely be late, I'd make moves now.

I'm really surprised no one else thinks you should grab Marshawn and go for the win. RB is the only place you're light, so I don't see the reason to wait another year to grab a rookie that you have to wait for to develop. In the mean time, losing Fitz and adding a year to Crabtree and Tate. The only other option I see is if you can trade that 1st for a different starting RB.

Yeah, I'm actually very surprised by the overwhelming amount of passes on this one. I'm on the fence about it, hence why I posted it on here, but I feel like the value alone could be worth it. I feel like I very possibly could have the best overall dynasty roster in my league(although I've never won it all), and these next 2-3 years are going to be my biggest chance/best window to bring one home. I have the most WR depth in the league without question(when you start 4-5 WR's, it makes things VERY interesting), rock solid QB's, and IMHO a pretty diesel crop of RB's(I'm still very high on Dougie and Abdullah). I think my biggest weakness is TE, as I'm an Eifert injury away from a gaping hole in my lineup. If I knew I'd land Njoku right now, I would do the trade in a heartbeat, but I'm not sure that's the case. I'm still leaning towards yes, but again, very surprise at how many easy passes, regardless of talent coming out next year.

In regards to trading a 2018 1st for a RB, as I mentioned above, I'm pretty confident in my RB's heading into the year. I would hope to draft Marshawn if possible for SURE, but I think I'll be okay without him as well. I think he would immediately put me as the favorite to win it all though.

My biggest balking point is that I have a slew of solid picks in the back of the 2nd already, so I don't know if it would be overkill. I would probably try and move 2.9 and 2.10 on draft day, but I'm sitting in a good position right now team wise, as I'm young and have a great core of players at every position(excluding TE depth). I simply don't necessarily NEED to make a deal like this. I'll probably be just fine without Marshawn, and can grab a few rock solid pieces to let develop on my bench like Golladay, Curtis Samuel, etc.

Tempting to go Lynch/Hunt and make a run this year, I guess the question is how effective will Lynch be?

Why not pay a little more and get someone better than Lynch. I also doubt Hunt helps that much this year.

I'm a newbie, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but you are trading what is likely 10th pick next year (if you win again) for the 14th and 15th picks this year. I know this isn't like the NFL, but an actual football team would take that trade for sure. You get two players of roughly similar quality to the one you are giving up, plus an extra year out of them.
