Draft Trade?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Draft Trade?

Postby kitsae » Sun Jun 18, 2017 6:57 am

12 team PPR, TE premium (1.5 ppr)

My draft picks are as follows:
1.07
2.06
2.07
3.07
4.07

Do you think its fair value to package the two second round picks that I have to pick up a second pick at the back end of the first round (e.g., 1.10 or 1.11)?

My hope would be to try and package the two first round picks (my existing 1.07 plus the second one I pick up by trading my two second round picks away) to try and break into the top 5.

I think this draft has 6 premium players (Davis; McCaffrey; Mixon; Fournette; Williams; Cook) and then you have a drop.

I am weak at RB and would love to pick up one of the premium backs.

So do you think I should start wheeling and dealing on the picks in order to try and land McCaffrey/Mixon/Fournette/Cook, or should I hold and settle for a guy like Perine or Kamara at 1.07?

If you can do it, yes. I wouldn't trade a late first for two mid-seconds though.

Lot of moving parts to accomplish the various listed goals, gonna need to know a bit more about your team to offer thoughts/opinions on potential routes...that said, packaging the 2.06/2.07 might get you tail end of the first round, though I doubt it. With this being TE premium, are you not looking at OJ Howard with the 7 pick?

Seems like a lot of trades hinging on one another in your scenario, but like prine said if you can do it go for it. I'm starting to realize that trading is never as easy or straightforward as podcasts/sites make it seem.
If I were you I'd get ahold of the 1.04/1.05/1.06 owner and give him the hypothetical of "If I had the 1.07 and 1.12 would you move back" before you start making the other moves. Or see if you could package something with a combo of your 1.07, one of your 2nds and/or a player to get the 1.05 which should at least get you Dalvin.

Why not start off buy offering the 1.07 and both your 2nd round picks for one of the top 5. If that doesn't work, then try getting the late 1st and asking again.

IMO, absolutely not.

If you're getting a top-3 pick, then maybe. But, for Cook? No way. I'd MUCH rather have one of the top-3 TEs and TWO of the 2nd-tier RBs than Cook or McCaffrey, especially if you have big needs at RB.

That being said, if your team is loaded and only one RB away, then I'd look to do this for a top-3 pick, not a top-5.

One more note: I would also NOT do this piece-by-piece. Make sure that you have the second deal in place before you do the first.

Thanks all. I appreciate your very thoughtful posts.

I went ahead and executed step one.

2.06, 2.07, 3.07 and 4.07 for 1.10.

Now have 1.07 and 1.10.

I did this without locking a deal for a top-3 or top-5 because I think with 1.07 and 1.10 I could lock a top-2 TE and a second tier RB or maybe both top-2 TEs. I would be just fine with that.

However, my main goal is to break into the top 5 and get a top tier RB. Or if Corey Davis slips I would be ecstatic to take him.

Bottom line is I would get mid-range talent with the second round picks and be taking fliers with the 3rd and 4th round picks.

So question is whether I should trade both 1.07 and 1.10 to crack top 5 or stay put and get a top flight TE and second tier RB or maybe two top flight TEs.

Thoughts?

Bumping this as I would appreciate input on whether to hold 1.07 and 1.10 or use both to trade into the top 5. Thanks!

I almost always say get the best player so if you can package them do it, but can we get an idea what the roster looks like?

I'd try to trade up. Wasn't that your goal all along?

I would hold still and go OJ Howard and one of the 2nd tier RBs at 1.10. I love Perine at that spot if he's there.
Team #1 (co-owned), 1QB
QB - Joe Burrow, Jared Goff, Drew Lock
RB - Melvin Gordon, James White, JK Dobbins, Nyheim Hines
WR - AJ Brown, Dionae Johnson, AJ Green, Curtis Samuel, Brandin Cooks, Michael Pittman
TE - Austin Hooper, OJ Howard

Team #2, Superflex
QB - Desean Watson, Carson Wentz, Drew Lock
RB - Melvin Gordon, JK Dobbins, JD McKissic, Tarik Cohen
WR - DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, Tyler Lockett, Sammy Watkins, Brandin Cooks, Emmanuel Sanders
TE - Junno Smith, Evan Engram

Thanks guys!

I was thinking maybe Hunt at 1.07 and a TE or John Ross at 1.10.

I think Ross could turn out to be something special and is being underrated in drafts.
