Trading for AB in SF SC

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for AB in SF SC

Postby Bay City Original » Mon May 29, 2017 9:23 am

Looking for opinions about trading for Antonio Brown in a Superflex Salary Cap league...

This would be a post start up auction trade before year's are assigned. I've got an offer to acquire Antonio Brown but am not sure if it's a smart trade based on long term affect and my actual ability to win. If I'm strong enough to win I'd strongly consider making the trade. The trade is:

I get Antonio Brown (42k), Marshawn Lynch (6k), 2.02 (2.5k)
I give Wentz (20k), 1.03 (16k), DMartin (14k) JThomas (1.5k), MLee (1k)

12 Team, 0.5PPR, 200k Cap, Q/R/R/W/W/W/T/SF/F/D
Luck, Rodgers, Wentz
Martin, Blount, Duke, Gio, Yeldon, Sims
Marshall, DJax, Enunwa, Fuller, Woods, Lee
Olsen, JThomas, Cooks
1.03, 1.09, 3.04, 4.03

As you can see, RB and WR need some help but I'm also wondering if I make this trade will piecemealing a weekly line up around Luck, Rodgers, Brown, and Olsen be strong enuough to win. This would definitely be a Studs and Scrubs team. Also for long term plans I'd be issuing lots of 1 year contracts to give me more cap space beyond this year to really start building.

For what it's worth, my biggest hesitancy is trading Wentz away because his 20k salary for a long term contract could be very "cheap" if he can be a consistent top 10QB. In addition the thought of trading away assets for Brown who's QB is in jeopardy after this season.

Thoughts? Make the deal or slow my roll?

I'd do that pretty easily. You're not giving up anything much of value besides Wentz, and I'm not a huge fan of his. You can probably add a rookie QB with the 2.02 to get your 3rd QB.

In a superflex I would think Rodgers, Luck, and AB would be enough to make you a strong contender. I don't view the trade as a slam dunk because I think Wentz is legit and not Badly priced here. Maybe throw Rodgers out there and see what kind of haul you could get there if you don't think you are close enough to compete yet. But the Brown trade does make you stronger for now for sure.

I discussed this with you privately, but I'll voice my opinion here as well. I'd keep what your have. You have the best QB duo in the league, but that's about all you have. I think the team needs a reload, but at the very least I wouldn't be selling out my future for Brown. I think Wentz alone will be more valuable than Brown by season's end in a SF, and you're getting a young player you can build around at 1.03. I wouldn't necessarily blow this team up right now (and I definitely wouldn't break up those QBs), but I wouldn't be trying too hard to sell out to force something to happen this year. Wentz is only going to grow in value in this format, and I expect him to be viewed close to on par with guys like Winston/Carr/Mariota after this season, and that's huge in this format.

i agree with buckeye
i really think that Wentz in a superflex is very valueble...i am in the middle of a superflex league startup
1.06 antonio
1.08 winston
3.10 3rd rookie

factoring in the other pieces i would keep wentz + in a superflex..
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs
