Sammy vs Alshon

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I like both players quite a bit. If you asked me this at the end of last season, I'd say Sammy by a bit. Now, its much closer for me. I'd still probably roll with Watkins because he is still only 23 years old, and I believe in his talent, but man he has to stay on the field this season.

Sammy, mainly due to age, but also, when healthy he is a top 10 back. Both have inherent risk.

So many unknowns...I'm not really into either at their current prices, but everyone else seems to be. I'd lean Alshon because I like his QB and other receiving options around him to divert coverage.

Sent Alshon and Montgomery for Watkins about a month ago. I think the risks are about the same but Sammy's youth gives a higher upside potential long term. There is a forum thread somewhere that talk a little about his foot surgery and I think he will be healthier long term.

Agreed on long term.

I could be mistaken but I think Dez and Julio both had similar foot surgies and they basically had down years the following season. I like the gamble on Sammy right now...due to age and potential.

I actually just completed a trade two weeks ago where I moved Sammy for Alshon + 2.12 (JuJu). I don't think much more than a 2nd separates them despite the age gap. There is a lot of risk surrounding Sammy and if he misses any significant time again this season his value will plummet even further.

Avoiding both like the plague. Even if you can get past the enormous injury risk, which you probably shouldn't, there are questions about whether their QBs can get them the ball consistently, how much either team will even throw & how productive they can be in the playoffs, especially since home for both are places that are known to be snowy, windy & cold.
Team 1

QB- Carr, Mac
RB- Kamara, Patterson, Swift, Ingram, Foreman, Breida
WR- M Thomas, Metcalf, Keenan, Bourne, AB, Waddle, Green, D-Jax, Landry, St. Brown
TE- Waller, Hockenson
K- Tucker
D- Miami
Start: QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, TE, WR/RB, WR/TE, K, D

I would go Sammy. It is a good thing he may be on a new team in 2018.
