Trade my 2018 1st for Donta Foreman?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade my 2018 1st for Donta Foreman?

Postby DynastyDrum30 » Sun May 28, 2017 2:39 pm

I'm a contender this year and have made the playoffs for the past three years, so my 2018 pick will likely be in the back half of the first round. Is my 1st too much for foreman? I've taken a harder look at his film since DDs report came out, and I definitely see the big potential.

What do you think? Thanks in advance for any help guys.

I would say if the owner will take it do it. But you gotta think that next years class will have some big names as well. You could always sit on your 1st and see about being able to grab one of them next year. Where did Foreman go in your rookie draft?

DDs report can be found here on the forums:

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=141349

I personally asked the owner what it would take for a foreman and he said it would take my 2018 1st. He was drafted in the 3rd round of our rookie/FA draft. I'm honestly not super well versed in next years draft class, but if someone is, do you know if the class is pretty deep or more like last years?

The running backs will be pretty deep again. That I do know.

If he was taken in the third I wouldn't offer more than a future. I too read the DD report and it had me intrigued. But I wasn't much of a fan from my pre draft scouting and his landing is less than optimal. Next years class also looks to have some game changing backs. Chubb, Barkley, Freeman just to name a few

If Foreman stays at Texas, then he would likely be one of the top RB's in the nation (again) next season. Personally, I think only Saquon Barkley is better, but a lot can happen.

I've had Foreman as one of the Top 6-7 rookies in this class for a while now, so I'd trade a future pick for him. But, in an 8-team league, I can see a lot more reason to keep your pick.

There is quite a bit of talent in next year's class. We say that every year, and then clearer tiers emerge throughout the college football season and during the combine/pro day months. Personally, I would not trade my '18 1st for Foreman. I do think he is talented, and if Miller struggles he will have some opportunity. But without knowing for sure where the '18 1st will be, I'd rather hang onto it.

I wouldn't trade my 1st for Foreman. There will be ample opportunity to buy young productive RBs centered around an '18 1st during the season. Just wouldn't want to back myself into a corner by trading away my future 1st at the end of May for a rookie RB that I have as a mid 2nd round guy. Then again I don't devalue future 1sts to the point where they're only worth a current mid 2nd.

thank you...that is making me think i should draft Howard at 1.10 and then take Foreman with pick 2.2..i was going to take Kamara (i own AP) now i am even more confused!

Thanks for the feedback guys. I countered with my 2018 2nd, 3rd, Mohammad Sanu, and Giants D, and I got declined. Don't think I'm going to do my 1st rounder. Going to ask if there is any other way to get a deal done that doesn't involve my 1st.

Thats too much for give right now. You could get more for your first next year or during the season even. Plus, if Foreman does not do much early in the year his owner may get impatient and you will see a price drop. Drafting a guy jn the 3rd and immediately flipping him for a first with no real reason for a value boost would not make much sense right now.

I'd pass. I doubt Foreman helps your team this year, regardless of how good he may end up being.
