Dalton value in superflex

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Dalton value in superflex

Postby jnappy » Fri May 26, 2017 9:17 pm

What do you think Dalton is worth in a superflex? My QBs are Russ, Winston, Dalton, Hoyer, Hack, and Webb. I was offered a 2018 1st for Dalton. The value seems decent, but this would leave me without a viable 3rd QB. Would you take that in my situation?

Value wise it isn't bad, but I'd pass for the reason you stated. You need 3 solid starting QBs.

Dalton's production is worth a lot more than a random future 1st in this format, but his market value never matches his production value.

I would hold unless the pick projects to be early

Is it 4 or 6 pt passing touchdown? I just recently listened to a pod where one of the top names in the industry doesn't bother with the third QB in some leagues. Changed my perspective a bit. As for your question, I agree with the above. Bengals offense is always underrated. Dalton is only 29 and should be worth at least an early or mid first.

It's 4 pt. Really? I'd be interested to hear why...

I listened to that podcast as well, and while I understand you don't need an elite third option, having another quality option both helps protect you and keeps the player away from your opponent. His point was (I think) not to reach for the 3rd guy to the detriment of other positions, which I get, but if you don't have a 3rd you can count on you're at a disadvantage in the event of injury. Odds are your #4 WR won't score QB points consistently.

What about Alex Smith and a 2018 1st?

i think it depends on the rest of your roster, since this is a superflex, you don't have to start another QB, so if you have a viable fill-in for 2 weeks, you could consider it... but i would really study the last few years stats...did QBs far out perform other positions?
how did dalton stack up compared to the player that will likely fill in for the bye weeks..
is this a 12 team league? if 14 or more, i would definitely hold dalton
did you already have your 2017 rookie draft? QBs are going low, even in rookie drafts....getting a QB in the 2nd round would still help you fill that spot, allowing you to take talent next season in the first round..
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs
Kelce, Andrews, Jacob Harris

Call me crazy but I would almost prefer Dalton here still. Although Dalton is your QB3 so even if smith only plays one more year you could draft a rookie with the 2018 first. However I would still prefer Dalton he's underrated

I'd need more for dalton in superflex. He consistently puts up top 12 weeks when he has a healthy supporting cast and he just got more weapons. His job is also pretty secure which you can't say for a lot of QB's.

Pretty sure you could get more, especially once the season starts and people are getting desperate for QB depth.

This happened to me as well... We most likely listened to the same Pod. With that said, I view your QB situation much differently, you're set and I would swap Dalton for a random 1st. QB's are easy to replace in a pinch and Hoyer could do that if needed.
