On Deck of my 16 team PPR start up

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I'd want to add youth and try and build a dynasty. I wouldn't want to add anyone over the age of 28 until late in the draft ( besides qbs).
i usually am with you on the QB thing, but since it is a 16 team league and Rodgers is such a stud scorer it was hard to pass up...especially considering there was like an hour long fight on the board about capping the QB position at like 2 so QB got put into a lot of peoples minds.

I am just amazed at the price people are still willing to pay for Gronk (or how early he gets drafted). There are TEs just as good at this point who come at a lower cost and are at less risk of walking away from the game.

Pick 35 seemed like a reasonable place to take him.

I think the only TE that competes on a per game basis with Gronk is Reed and he's probably a bigger risk than Gronk

I am likely in a minority of 1, but I am expecting Reed to be playing longer than Gronk. If the latter plays past the age of 30, I'd be very surprised.

X2. I am 3/4 through a start up and tight end feels especially thin with reliable options this year. It's gotta be really bad in a 16 team league. With only being able to start 2 WRs and there being a very deep pool of receievers, the edge you get from having an elite player at tight end is much bigger than the edge you would have in a 12 team league. Add in the fact that Gronk scores like a WR1 and this isn't even close IMO. If you prefer Kelce to Gronk, that's fine too but I would go Gronk here for sure.

So through 3 rounds this is how my team is shaping up...

1.03 - Ezekiel Elliot
2.14 - Aaron Rodgers
3.03 - Rob Gronkowski

It is definitely not the direction I normally go in start ups, but being a 16 team league it is hard to pass on elite players, especially at the scarce positions. I think I have the #1 (#2 at worst) dynasty player at QB, RB, TE.

I'd have to agree with you Joe. Now you need to grab production at WR. And make a serious run!

Yeah. Not the norm startup but a fun base. I hear you on with 16 teams the studs become more scarce. Grab safe, proven WRs with your next 3 picks and you could be sitting good
