Young Team Evaluation

Postby hingle » Tue May 23, 2017 7:32 am

I took over this team last year and managed to accumulate a fair bit of draft capital in 2016 and 2017 to begin a rebuild. I'm happy with the team and think it looks to be a strong team for 2018 or 2019 if my guys can develop into the prospects they are expected to be, big "if" I know.

RB is my biggest question mark and what I was wondering is should I be looking to try and grab under performing guys during the season or should I be saving my picks for the 2018 draft? I don't follow college so I am unsure of what the projected RB class is like in 2018 but is it worth stockpiling picks for?

12 Tm, PPR, 4pt TDs, These are all my notable players
Carr, Wentz
Henry, Mixon(R), White, Hood(R), A.Jones(R)
OBJ, Thomas, Moncreif, Davis(R), Ross(R), Ginn, Lee, Funchess, Inman
Henry, Engram(R), Shaheen(R)
2018 Picks: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th
12 Team PPR, 6pt TDs
1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1TE, 2Flex (W/R/T)
QB: Jackson, Mayfield, Pickett
RB: Barkley, Taylor, N. Harris, L. Murray, Scott
WR: Jefferson, K.Allen, Higgins, Diggs, Chark, Atwell
TE: Pitts, Njoku, Mayer(R) Tremble
2024 Picks: 1.05, 3.05, 4.05/4.09

I think you're one good, young RB and WR away from competing a year from now. I wouldn't necessarily trade your picks for underachieving players. Next year's RBs should be very good, similar to this year, but maybe not as deep.

Save your picks. You may not be competing this year but are well set up for the future at all positions.

Carr, Wentz Perfect situation...two young guys with one that has shown already he can put up big points. Ignore this position
Henry, Mixon(R), White, Hood(R), A.Jones(R) As much as I hate Mixon he will be a top 15 weekly starter. If you can get a vet at a reasonable price I would consider it. You have Henry, so maybe see what Murray would cost you.
OBJ, Thomas, Moncreif, Davis(R), Ross(R), Ginn, Lee, Funchess, Inman You have 2 top 10 dynasty WRs, but knowing your starting requirements would be helpful. Davis and Ross could have starter potential this season but if you want to compete maybe get a cheap rental like Fitzgerald
Henry, Engram(R), Shaheen(R) This position is so whacky that what you have will be fine

Stock piling 2018 picks is a really good idea. The class is loaded with QBs (Sam Dornald, Josh Rosen and Josh Allen), RBs (Nick Chubb, Saquon Barkley, and Derrius Guice) and really talented WRs (Christian Kirk, Calvin Ridely, Courtland Sutton, and Equanimeous St Brown). In my opinion it is probably one of the deepest fantasy player pools.

Currently I have five first round picks for my team that is in a similar position as yours and I am thrilled about it.

I'd see if you can turn Mixon+Davis+? Into Zeke somehow.

Thanks all, starting requirements are QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, FLEX, DEF.

Currently Mixon, Ross, Davis, and Engram are on my practice squad so I am looking like a strong favorite for a top 4 pick in 2018. I think I may just sit tight and see what the season brings me.
