Trading for Davis

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trading for Davis

Postby Zak_Dewitt » Sun Apr 30, 2017 10:59 am

Trying to get Corey Davis... I would be giving Alshon Jeffrey and 2 2018 1sts. Is that too much/not enough and should I drop it down to Jeffrey and 2018 1st&2nd?? Any help I'd appreciate!

As Coogan would say, "Don't be the guy who asks for advice without giving some out himself first." I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you will go help others out as well.

As for your question, I would say Alshon is worth more than Davis. I wouldn't be adding any 1sts to Alshon's side, let alone two. If anything there should be one on Davis's side.

So Davis going to a great situation and Alshon still worth more even with injury concerns and less years left?

Alshon has shown he has elite upside when on the field. Davis has yet to play an NFL snap. Having said that, I don't think anyone who has Davis would trade him for Alshon with rookie fever in full swing. If you're rebuilding though, it's definitely the Davis side.

I absolutely wouldn't be adding anything to Alshon to get Davis.

Sure Davis is going to a good situation, but we have seen Alshon be elite and have not seen Davis play one snap in the NFL.

If you want to get younger, trade Jefferey straight up for him, but definitely do not add anything

That's wayyy too much. Probably 2 18 1sts too much.

For the range Davis is going in, I can't see anyone giving up that pick for Alshon right now. But, the gap isn't two future first round picks.

Having just drafted, and being very high, on Davis, I'd have a hard time turning down the original offer. Agree with taking out the picks and find a small sweetener

Davis is not worth Alshon and two 2018 1st however Alshon is definitely not worth Davis. Davis has a great situation, young talented QB, and a great draft pedigree. Alshon can't stay healthy at all, if he such a stud why did Chicago pass him up, and how come he only got a 1 year prove it contract? I wouldn't trade Davis for Alshon so to get Davis from me for him I'd probably need at least a 2018 1st or some comparable asset.

and we're going to pretend the rookie who hasn't played an NFL snap doesn't also have injury concerns?

Davis handle ankle surgery which obviously the Titans medical staff is cool with since they spent a top 5 pick on him. Alshon has had soft tissues issues his whole career

I would rather him not give out advice if he had to ask this question.
He's gotta start somewhere though. I would advise him to google some dynasty rankings to get a rough idea of where players might stand within the positions at least as he's fairly new. The rest will just have to come from experience over time. I don't think handing out advice on stuff that might be obvious is a bad start ("Yes, you should trade ARob for two middling draft picks"). Pick and choose where you could be helpful. People can see how many posts people have and take that into consideration when they listen to that person's advice. Plus it's okay if he posts advice that isn't in line with the community. Other people will (hopefully) chime in as well. If nothing else I would advise him to ask questions if there is something he doesn't understand (i.e. why is player X worth more than player Y or why is this strategy the best when rebuilding, etc). Most people are more than willing to provide an explanation as to why they were thinking one way or the other or how to go about things.

I prefer the Davis side. Kramer mentioned that rookie fever is in full swing. So true and if Davis's injury issues were a real concern then I don't think the Titans would have spent the 5th pick on him. Considering that three wr's went in the top ten it just seems to me that the Titan's new something about other teams targeteing wr's early so they went out and got there guy. As for Jeffery, I like him but he's got more wear and tear on him but can still be solid. I'm just leaning toward Davis here.
