Traded 1.7, what say the people?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I'm not a fan of Lacy much. You could've gotten a player like Kamara or Foreman (or somebody could've fallen) with the 1.07 which would've been much better. Plus Kaepernick has value in this league and you sold him at the worst time possible.

Without piling on too much I feel you sold short. I don't know the make up of the teams above but in a 2QB league would someone take a QB higher?

hawk2119 wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2017 7:24 am It feels like an overpay. I just dont see lacy being much better than your existing rb depth. The backfield is crowded and the oline is horrible. If he couldnt get it done in gb i dont see anything that makes me think hes going to suddenly turn it around in seattle. If you really wanted to add a difference maker at rb i think packaging 1.7 with someone like abdullah would have been the way to go.
SCYCPA wrote: Tue Apr 25, 2017 7:18 am To be blunt, I think you sold way short.
1.7 should be buying you a high upside younger player like Doctson or Corey Coleman. Lacy does not have anywhere near that kind of upside. You could have stayed put until the draft to see if a John Ross or OJ howard snuck into the top 6 which may have netted you a Mixon or Mike Williams.
I think this is a perfect illustration of worrying too much about filling lineup cards in April and how one can lose value doing that. Good luck.

I did not read the majority of the posts, but I will say this:

Running Backs that change teams via free-agency rarely work out from a fantasy perspective. It is a golden rule I stand by when buying players. I certainly don't give up mid-firsts for them.

This is one million percent true, and I usually do the same exact thing lol. I've been burned before, and I vowed to never allow it to happen again haha. The picks to me were a saving grace though, as I really am not in love with anybody at 1.7. I figured I'll throw a few more darts. I've tended to do really well with my 2nd and 3rd round picks in the past, so I have become somewhat married to the idea of trading back.

Not sold that Lacy can not be a fatty anymore. Also, that is one heck of a crowded backfield in Seattle with Rawls and Prossie there and now they've added Feastmode. Not too many touches for any of those guys

You say that now, but you will kick yourself sill if the #5 or 6 guy makes a reach and you're looking at McCaffrey, Mixon, or Mike Williams available at that slot

Lol, let's see how the draft shakes out. I definitely hear what you're saying, but I think there are gonna be some fallers. No matter though, let's just hope I hit on my 2nd round picks lol.

i think the value here is pretty much in line when it comes to buying lacy. there are those who are willing or want to, risk it with him. there are some who want nothing to do with him at all. you had to offer enough to make him part ways, if you wanted him....I really wouldn't fret kaep. he may end up being a great fantasy qb someday...but 1st he needs to be an nfl qb. and its my guess that he either doesn't make it or gets black balled. I own him, I think there's a huge ceiling there, but something's gonna have to click for him, and I'm not sure its happening and that's assuming that he gets a starting gig somewhere. long story short.....kaep is not going to get in the way of a trade that I want. if I miss out with him, so be it.

that whole backfield is an interesting buy/sell for me. I don't blame someone for wanting lacy. is 7 good? that really depends on what lacy does going forward. I really like to try buying guys like this with 10-15. I think that would especially be true in your format. most feel that its going to be a rbbc, but I don't think that's a given. if someone stands out here...I can see them getting the majority of the rb touches as Wilson settles in, both this year and over the next few years. I do find this trade interesting though...ive seen procise and rawls go for the same (give or take a pick).

in general, I don't mind the trade. is 7 going to give you immediate rb production? why not gamble that the answer is lacy. I don't think you lost value here to be honest. you just didn't "buy low", but again...you have to offer enough to get your guy. as mentioned before, there was the potential for a nice player to be sitting there for you at 7, and especially so in your format with 2 qbs. id think that you could have did this trade in 5 days if you wanted to. nothing at all would change on the lacy side imo.

Very well said, and greatly appreciate the input. I completely agree and am still very happy with the trade and the value I gave up, etc. My only regret if it can even be called one, is that I didn't wait long enough. As you mentioned, his side of the trade wasn't going to garner any steam or gain value for a while, but 1.7 could easily be worth much more after the draft and as it gets closer to our rookie draft. Sometimes, you just gotta pull the trigger.

And if I can manage to land 2.8(which I am actively trying to do), I will legit have 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, and 2.10 which is too baller.

You lost in this trade.

Sold the 1.7 way below value. Lacy is a risk and to pile on the offensive line is a mess in Seattle. Additionally, he has two young lions breathing down his neck. Good luck to you.
