Gillislee or a 3rd

Postby Dunville » Tue Apr 25, 2017 3:16 am

Hi, team in sig
I recently traded for McCoy and got Gillislee as a throw in (pre pats trade).
I see my team as a contender but my RBs are sketchy.

I could use some defensive youth on the IDP side.

I've been offered the 3.11 for Gillislee

Take or pass?

Might as well keep Gillislee unless you get 2nd round pick or better

Normally I would say take the pick, but I think you can get an owner willing to buy into the hype, so try and get more

Yeah I'd like a second hopefully if the hype accelerates even more. He doesn't own a second and only has the 1.12. I may even wait until after the rookie draft and evaluate where some of the rookie IDPs have gone to.

I guess I'm the lone vote for the pick. MAYBE someone will buy into the hype, but I doubt it. I suspect that everyone who doesn't own him is going to sit back and wait to see if that backfield ever sorts itself out rather than give up any pick for him.

Am I missing something here - this seems way too easy? Gillislee steps into the role LG filled last year in which he led the league in TDs due to all the goalline opportunities, which is where Gillislee shined last year - 8 TDs and almost 600 on less than 110 carries (over 5 ypc also). He also went 11 for 12 in 3rd and 1 situations last year, and buffalo used him over Mccoy in these situations, showing his goalline prowess. Not to mention he's clearly better than Blount and is only 26. That low 3rd round pick is a total shot in the dark and there's a good chance they will never have fantasy value.

Btw, I'm a Pats fan and understand that a committee will be used and you will be inevitably frustrated with him as an owner, but the value is still clearly there as LG showed last year.

Gillislee easily. Everyone saying you can find a sucker to pay more, may turn out to be the sucker that sold Gilli in the first place. I'd want a mid 2nd minimum, he's the only back on the squad to fill the blount role. That's more valuable than a 3rd or late 2nd.

The only challenger to the early down work and goal line carries may be Burkhead but I think this is a prime spot for Gillislee. The only RB I would own in NE is Gillislee.

Gillislee for me, 3rd is just too cheap atm. Id hold and use him as bait to move up in the draft to get a player you really want.

Agreed, as a Pats fan I actually was really curious to see Burkhead get some early-down work, which will likely still happen, but not nearly as much. Not that I'm complaining about fleecing the Bills out of another good RFA

I am not sure why everyone is just leaping to the assumption that Gillislee is going to get the Blount role in that offense...

If I was drafting rookies today, I would select Gillislee somewhere around rookie 13-18 if available in a rookie draft... maybe higher once landing spots settle but not mower I don't think. He's still young, in a great offense and has showed ability at the NFL level. Yes, NE RBs can be frustrating. That said, if you play in a larger league where you are required to start 2 RBs, then a RB like this carries extra value.

Zero chance I give him up for a 3rd unless I play in a 10-team, start 2 RB league setup where it might make more sense.
