Josh Gordan= 2017 second round pick?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Josh Gordan= 2017 second round pick?

Postby ESKAY » Mon Apr 24, 2017 7:13 pm

Let's assume he gets reinstated and is cut loose by the Browns. Would anyone in here give up a second round pick for him?

I made the trade of Adam Humphries and the 17 4.6
For Kenyan Drake and Gordon.
Like Coog said it's based upon your needs and what the owner is willing to accept. A later round flyer wouldn't be bad either for taking a chance

Yep. Same thing I said about Martavis. The hit rate on a 2nd is about as good as these guys staying clean so if you need WR help, they've certainly shown that they can do it.

I knew what Gordon could do in 2013. Guy hasn't played football in almost three years. The NFL isn't the CFL. I have serious doubts about the 2017 version of Gordon beyond the drug issues (which are enough for me to pass by themselves).

I wouldn't give any 2nd. I'd rather roll the dice with a fresh prospect.

Maybe a late 2nd in 12+ team league. I'd have to be pretty uninspired by the available rookies. Even then I might still stay clear.

This isn't a 21 year old who missed a year of college football and is entering the NFL. He's missed over 2 years of meaningful football, has had multiple suspensions, and didn't even look that good last time he played in a regular season NFL game (2014 - in 5 games had 24 catches, 300 yards and 0 TDs). Not only would you be banking on him returning to form, but would be banking on him getting reinstated, finding a team that will take a chance on him, and not screwing up again. Those are wayyy too many things to bet on and I'd assume the "hit rate" on a 2nd rounder is much better than that.

I was a big fan of Gordon's when he came out and think he could have been extremely special, but that's not happening anymore.

I wouldn't invest anything in him, but if you have a deep roster allottment for your league, especially if you took over an orphan or stink, he's the kind of guy you can pick up on the cheap, and hold, and if good news comes, immediately flip him. I drafted him last year in a start up too early, I think 9.10 or something, but I was quick to deal him the second positive news hit, got a bunch of offers late july, and sent him out w/a third that August in exchange for an '18 1st.

I would not trade anything of value for him at this point, he's just someone to acquire if he's on the waiver wire, or you have the room to stash him temporarily.

He's also only 26, and unlike Blackmon, he's worked hard to stay in football shape to try to make it back. Blackmon clearly quit after the last suspension, Gordan's been trying to make it back, went to rehab of his own accord, and the league is already working on potentially making new rules regarding marijuana considering the legality of the drug in so many states these days, even w/the racist elf/troll of an AG trying to nip it in the bud, and turn back the clock to 1953 and the old reffer madness shorts.
