Is it worth it to move from 1.03 to 1.02, and how much should it cost?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

As far as draft success rate goes, there's little-to-no difference between 1.02 & 1.03.

Unfortunately, the owner in front of me owns 1.01 and 1.02 and is almost certain to take both of those players. Is it worth it to move up one spot, or should I stand pat and choose between Mixon, McCaffrey, Williams, and Cook at 1.03? In addition to 1.03 I also own 1.09, 2.04, 2.09, 2.10, 3.07, and 4.10 for trading purposes.
I mentioned a trade to the owner with the 1.01 and 1.02 last week and he joked (hopefully) that it would take the 1.09 and the 1.03 for the 1.02... scam alert?
If you want to move up for that, it's probably gonna cost something like that. I'd throw up an offer on dynasty twitter or something just to find an offer that came close to a fair offer, or use the dynasty trade search function on this site for similar offers.

Personally I don't get that. You're going to get one of Fournette, Mixon, Cook or McCaffrey. More than likely 2 of those guys will have as good or an even better landing spot than Fournette especially if he goes to the Jags and some rumors on landing spots are true.

I understand that if you're totally sold on Fournette and Corey, but not the others, than doing such a trade could make sense, but I still wouldn't do it. To me that trade is going to cost you the ability to draft OJ Howard, David Njoku, Juju or Ross or Godwin, or the RB that goes after the big 4 etc. To me, I'd just rather pick the best RB that falls, then take Howard/Godwin/Njoku or trade down with the 1.9. Much, much better chance of coming out of this draft with at least one and possibly 2 legit assets by avoiding the trade up, then by doing so.

Wish I was in your league, I would have no trouble trading down with you. I'd do that w/o a second thought if I were him. It's not a swindle, it sounds reasonably fair, but I wouldn't do it.

Yes, I was thinking of offering something along the lines of 1.03, 2.09 & 2.10 for the 1.02..... but I agree that the 1.09 and 1.03 is a little too rich for 1.02 at this point.... especially if I can get a future HOFer in OJ Howard at 1.09. As bad as I want to be able to lock up having one of those two players, after reading the comments my best move is probably to wait until after the draft and scope out the market. This trade may have to wait until he is literally on the clock with the 1.02 at the draft on June 10th. I would just hate if someone else traded for that 1.02 and took my guy....

The problem is, as of now I don't really like any other player in the top half of the 1st besides for those two. My roommate wakes me up every morning by yelling "Cook is a bust!".... and McCaffrey can't be what we think he is and Mike Williams looks like he has flippers for hands :/ Mixon actually looks really good as an on-field prospect, but I'm terrified at taking him at 1.03. Oh dear.
Not to be obnoxious, but there's no chance I would trade the 1.2 for that. You'd need to cough up more. The bust rate of those late 2nd's is exceptionally high, especially in such a god awful WR draft (and that's where the crummy WR's tend to start coming off the board and the RB's with legit skills (bell cow or satelite) tend to dry up). I'd need the 1.9.

Have you tried (I don't know his picks, but here's what I'd do).

You give, 1.3 and 1.9

he gives 1.2 and 2.2? try to get a give back on the other end if he won't budge on 1.9 (say 2.1-2.6)

To me unless you're TE hunting, the WR's and RB's going between 1.9-2.7 are really similar in value, and people tend to disagree a ton on where they should go, so you could easily give up your 1.9 and end up getting a player you might have taken there if he throws in say the 2.2, or 2.4 or whatever. The only exception to me is TE, the big 3 TE's seem to go off the board between 1.7 and 2.4. So that window is a bit shorter. But if you're looking RB/WR with that 1.9, then you could be fine if you just turn the 1.9 aspect of the trade into him trading up, rather than straight up just taking it.

I know for me, I've been trying to accumulate picks around the 1/2 turn to insure I land one of the primo TE prospects, and 2nd's that are in the top 20 overall (especially in leagues where waived players suck and won't push down talent in a combined waiver/rookie draft) so I can target the last of the WR's and RB's I really like that I suspect will be gone before late round 2 or the 2/3 turn. for me the tier breaks in talent are at slot 6, slot 10, and around pick 2.9 or thereabouts and the roof for me caves in around the 29th-30th overall pick.

By the way, how/why do you know this? Are you guessing because those are the two players that you want? Did he say something to you... or to someone else that got back to you?

Indeed, is it possible that he actually wants only ONE of those players but knows that YOU want one of them, too... and is trying to convince you that the only way to get one is trade up to 1.02... while he gets his second-ranked player at 1.03?

All these possibilities make me wonder again how you came to believe that he is "almost certain" to take LF and Davis...
