Start up draft 1.02

Postby James McGhee » Sun Apr 23, 2017 7:39 am

I'm looking to trade down from the 1.02 in a snake start up draft but I have no clue as to how to value it. I know it's an elite player worth multiple rookie picks but what can I expect to ask for in start up picks + future rookie picks?

Give: 1.02
Receive: 1.10, 3.10, 2018 2nd

Is this too much? Not enough?

Please help!?

I personally wouldn't want to move down that far I don't think. I'd rather take one of OBJ or Evans to build my team around then move that far. If I was going to move that far down I'd probably want the 1.10, 2.01 (if its ten team league) or the 2.03 (12 team league) plus a future first. That trade would be more reasonable for me if I was moving back to say the 1.05, where I could still grab one of Julio, Antonio Brown, DJ, Bell, ARob, Nuk etc.

Look at the adp data to see what kind of players you would expect to get with the other picks and then decide if it's enough for Evans. I doubt the offer you mentioned would be enough, at least not for me.

So realistically we're talking the start up 1.10 & 2.03 and a 2018 1st.

That's a much better offer for the 1.02.

Just for reference, I recently gave up the 1.2, 3.2, and 7.2 and I got back the 1.11, 2.2, and 4.2. I thought I made out pretty well.

Received a new offer:

I give: 1.02, 2.11, 4.11 and 6.11
I receive: 1.08, 2.05, 4.05, and 6.05

I move back 6 picks in the 1st round of the start-up and move up 5 picks in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th rounds.

Fair deal?

The tier jump from 1.02 to 1.08 isnt enough for me. If you got to keep your 4th and they added a 1st it makes it much more even. Make them pay to move up.

agreed.
That'd be a killer return for the 1.02, but I doubt very many would pay that. That'd be like giving something like ARob/Watkins/'18 1st for one of Evans/Zeke/DJ.

Personally, I'm comfortable enough with the top 8-10 players in a startup that I'm not paying a ton to move up to 2.

Let's look at DLF's Dynasty Rankings and see. I'll use the players in that exact ranking and the next guy behind him (ranking + 1). Obviously not going to be how it plays out but it might give myself a better look at what I'll end with.

If I did this most recent trade I move from -
2nd overall: Antonio Brown (Julio Jones)
to
8th overall: Le'Veon Bell (D. Hopkins)

23rd overall: Devonta Freeman (S. Diggs)
to
17th overall: Todd Gurley (A. Jeffery)

47th overall: Josh Doctson (Mark Ingram)
to
41st overall: Jordan Matthews (Tyler Eifert)

71st overall: John Brown (Jameis Winston)
to
65th overall: Golden Tate (Spencer Ware)

After compiling this little list as an exercise I'm not sure if I like the value difference in a 5 spot bump in 3 rounds for a 6 spot drop at the top.

I don't thin you are getting enough in return.
